Turkish State-Run Anadolu Agency Blames Syrian Government And Kurdish Militias For Sharing Oil Revenue From Fields In Hasakah Province

The Turkish state-run media has revealed another fact that allegedly thereatens the Turkish security.

According to Anadolu Agency, “Bashar al-Assad’s regime” and the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD; a political wing of Kurdish militias described as terrorist groups by Ankara) share revenues from oil fields clocated in the Syrian province of Hasakah.

PKK/PYD and the Assad regime together controls nine oil fields in the Al-Hasakah province, three of which are currently active and 6 are inactive, according to local sources.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, has waged a terror campaign against Turkey for more than 30 years, during which more than 40,000 people have been killed. It is also involved in illicit drug production, manufacture, and trafficking,” Anadolu Agency’s article reads.

According to Turkey, the PYD is just a branch of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a militant group operating in southern Turkey and in northern Iraq.

Approximately 30-35 thousand barrels of oil per day is produced from nearly 350 small oil wells located in the war-torn country’s southwestern As-Suwayda city, the oil rich city of Rimelan and Karacok in northeast Syria.

Recently, the PKK/PYD handed over the control of oil production in the Rimelan region to the Assad regime and a revenue sharing agreement was signed between the sides.

According to the agreement, the Assad regime will earn 65 percent of the revenue while the PKK/PYD will obtain 20 percent. The PKK/PYD gives the remaining revenue to local Arab forces that are responsible for the protection of the fields. The Assad regime supplies salaries of the guards and other workers.

Despite the agreement, the PKK/PYD still keeps an office in the Rimelan region where their officers provide reports on oil production to the organization.

The oil that is produced from these fields is transported to refineries in Syrian regime-held Homs via trucks. Entrepeneur Husam Katirci, a close associate of the Assad family, oversees the oil transfer.

Oil produced from Al-Hasakah is targeted for Iraq’s Sinjar district,” the state-run agency reported.

While according to Syrian experts the economic cooperation between the Syrian government and the PYD will contribute to a peaceful solution of some existing differences between the two sides, Ankara looks determined to describe it as a threat to Turkey’s security.

What ! How dare the Syrian Government procure oil from own oil fields !

Tommy Jensen

These were Turkish oilfields before Putin got in the way.

Colin Oskapy

Well, good for Putin. Turkish oil fields ? On Syrian territory ? Putin gets in the way of not just Turkey, but ISIS and NATO.

tigbear

It’s not the issue; it’s their cooperation with the Kurds that’s the problem. Assad is letting down a lot of people with this. He expects his soldiers to sacrifice their lives in the name of sovereignty and yet he makes deals with the very people who are helping outsiders usurp the nation’s sovereignty. Apparently, there are rumors he did this with ISIS too. If Syria is in a desperate financial state, he can be excused for doing this. If not, and he has long term plans to work with the Kurdish in this manner (a tacit acceptance of the balkanization of Syria), then he loses my respect.

Colin Oskapy

No, fool. Assad is collaborating with the PKK, which, according to the Zionist West is a terrorist organisation. No deals by Assad with the American Blackwater YPG.

Weldon Cheek

He cant do everything at once, whats stopping him defeating isis, then smashing HTS then telling the Kurds to jog on and that hes changed his mind?then when the Turds sorry Kurds kick off he can use it as an excuse to start hammering them with a perfect reason.one step at a time, its working now why get all excited?.

Dustil schmit

They will probably follow same model in deir ezzor. But I do wonder how much of it goes towards powering the countryside/cities or is that a whole another matter? Does that count as revenue.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The Deir Ez zoir fields all go to the Syrian government because the PYD only looks after Kurds right now. The rest are maintained again in Northern Syria by Assad and the Syrian Govt. so The fields in the south are not included with revenue sharing , but locals there. There is going to be a lot of focusing of resources on rebuilding and expect a filing of restitution from Turkey by Syria in the future.

Just "Syrian"

WTF??

Wahid Algiers

What does Turkiman expect? To share the oil revenue with them?

FlorianGeyer

Yes ??

dutchnational

How dare syrians, state and locals, sell their own oil when Erdogans son in law has been busy buying it on the cheap from IS.

Shame on Syria and Syrians.

This calls for another shelling of Northern Syria.

Barba_Papa

Erdogan is just pissed he’s not getting his cut of the trade.

dutchnational

Think so too.

Jonathan Cohen

It’s good news after that su22 shootdown. I hope both sides realize ISIS is not gone yet and SDF/SAA have a common enemy until ALL ISIS and HTS territory is taken, not just most.

FlorianGeyer

mmmm, I see to recall that the Erdogan family was and likely still is involved in buying stolen oil at cheap prices from ISIS . There is also the ongoing purchase of stolen oil from the Iraqi Kurd enclave to consider as well.

Turkey is a long way from having any moral high ground here :)

Dustil schmit

Turks have built up some refiners in jarablus region.

Kristy Rain

Did they build them with stolen Syrian equipment? They took
A lot of that too! ?

tigbear

If true, that’s not good either. And it’s not good this news of Assad doing deals with the Kurdish either. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Neither country should be helping the Kurds. This only benefits the Zionists.

FlorianGeyer

Surely if one accepts the premise that a nations resources are the equal property of its people , then an offer from President Assad to share the resources in the Kurdish controlled areas is an olive branch to all in Syrian Kurdistan. The Kurds have nothing positive to gain from association with the US/Israel who always betray their allies in time..

tigbear

I don’t think the US will leave the Kurds alone. They didn’t spend billions on this war and they didn’t arm ISIS just so that Kurds can get their own oil fields. I don’t think that was the plan. Kurds will keep the US around. They’re nervous because of Turkey, and also because the Syrians are aware that the Kurds are disloyal and will use outside help to gain land. Everything comes with a price. Kurds need the USA for security. If Assad’s plan is to give up the northern part and take half the oil profits in return for Syria’s shipping the oil out, and do nothing if the US builds permanent bases in that region, the biggest loser will be Iran.

Michael Qiao

How dare the Syrians get there oil from their own land

tigbear

So it’s okay for the Kurds to declare sovereignty and invite US-Zio bases into Syria and set up shop permanently? It’s not just the issue of Assad making money from Syria’s oil, you know. It’s bigger than that.

Michael Qiao

obviously doesn’t get sarcasm

Expo Marker

It sounds like Turkey is still angry after Russia started targeting ISIS oil pumping stations and transport vehicles, and Turkey was no longer able to buy cheap oil.

Crimea river, Erdogan.

heydad

LOL Nice ending. Pun intended. Couldn’t have said it better.

Kristy Rain

???

tigbear

Nope, Turkey has changed sides as Qatar has. Turkey is helping Syria keep the Kurdish rebels from balkanizing the northern area of Syria. This move of Assad’s, if true, is either because he’s truly desperate financially, or he doesn’t care about balkanization of Syria.
Time will tell the real reason. On the whole, Assad is getting more unreliable. He became like this when the Russians entered the war.

This is a good clear news article on a win win oil production deal.

30,000 to 35,000 Barrels / Day
65% Revenue to Syrian Government
20% Revenue to PKK/PYD
15% to Local Forces protecting the fields

Störtebembel

not the worst idea…

Jonathan Cohen

I would like to see a bigger SDF percentage, but I guess assad is paying the workers.

tigbear

No, it’s not. It means that the Zios are financing the invasion with Syria’s oil. If the Kurds cannot get the oil out, they cannot make money from the oil. The oil will sit there until the land becomes the Syrian government’s again. The Kurdish only have this area of land, Syrian government have other oil wells. The Kurdish are at a disadvantage in this respect. This arrangement works in the Americans’ favor. They get the continued cooperation of the Kurds. Their ultimate plan might be to establish bases there, have the Kurds act as puppet rulers. And have a cooperative Assad agree to the balkanization and even have a deal with the Kurds to move oil out of that area.
Assad can’t have it both ways: he can’t oppose balkanization as well as support it. The only legitimate excuse may be that Syria is a dead broke and even loans from Iran aren’t paying the bills. This is the only way I can give Assad an out. Otherwise, he’s being slimy.

“…If the Kurds cannot get the oil out, they cannot make money from the oil…”

The Kurds could go it alone and extract the oil to sell it to Turkey and keep 100% of the proceeds.

When any mention of Partition or Balkanization of Syria is mentioned, the self promoted Internet Military Generals with self awarded Bravery Medals get into an uproar hurling abuse and denying such a thing.

After Dec 2017, people will take stock and accept Syria has been the victim of the Israel – Putin implementation of the Oded Yinon Plan.

Next in the queue to face the Israel – Putin axe will be Iran.

tigbear

Nope. Turkey wouldn’t agree to it. It might trade with ISIS but with Kurds, no way.
Turkey is even more against the Kurds than Assad is. Not a realistic scenario.
The Kurds cannot make money as long as Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syira blackball them. “Kurdistan” is landlocked.

tigbear

This is why the Iraqi Kurdistan was not able to exert power as a puppet in Iraq. It couldn’t get the oil out. It was forced to make deals with the iraq government. Without the ability to get the oil out, it will starve. Iraqis made a deal that’s bad for the Kurds there and the kurds are complaining. The Arabs, Turks and Iranians must take advantage of the unique geographical situation of the puppet Kurdish state that’s in their favor and put a siege on Kurdistan. They will win this way. Kurds don’t have any industry. They can’t export anything anyway. Assad has to cooperate in this or the whole scheme fails.

More

tigbear
Maybe that’s why the Kurds have done a deal with the Syrian government.

MeMadMax

Yea…. Ok…. But that oil still goes thru turkey after erdoghan and friends have bought it on the cheap…

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They send it to Homs to be refined right now which is good since they use that to trade for their manufacturing of other goods as it stands.

Lupus

The Turks have to learn to shut the fck up and mind their own business

Dustil schmit

Too busy stealing oil or drilling for it it in jarablus.

tigbear

You have to recognize the Turks have changed sides. The Russians accept it. You too. Turkish made a mistake, it is recognized now. The past should not be dwelled on right now. Time for that after the war is endded. Right now Turkish should be supported over and above the Kurdish. The Kurdish are the snakes in the grass bringing in the Zionists into Syrian and giving them control of the land. This is what is at stake now.

tigbear

No, the Turks are helping Assad in the north fighting the US-backed insurgents in the north. Assad has to make up his mind. Does he want the insurgents removed or not? He can’t backstab his allies like that. They are risking their soldiers’ lives to help Syria regain her sovereignty.

Störtebembel

Syrian government and syrian kurds exploit their oil TOGETHER?
OMG!
Mr. Erdogan, that´s totaly evil, UNO, US, NATO, Russia – some one must act yery quickly against this mother of breaking every human behaviour that ever stood.
;-)

tigbear

Syrian Kurds or Turkish PKK terrorists?
Don’t you think this is two-faced of Assad? He asked Turks to come help him control the Kurds, and now he cooperates with the PKK, their enemy, legitimizing their presence there, and helping fund them.
It was the plan probably to “starve” the Zio-backed Kurds out of Syria. Turkey would block the trafficking of oil out of the Kurdish controlled area. But that was hoping too much.
Either Assad is two-faced or his government is really short of money.
Assad has bought oil from ISIS in the past.

Kristy Rain

Aww! Are the turks mad?! They seem mad ♡
Good!
Now if only the kurds could stop stealing oil, and move into Turkey and start stealing their resources / lan
Then Syria can be whole again. ♡

Jonathan Cohen

Both Turkey and Rojava have abortion rights, so they should steal from abortion banners like ISIS and Assad, not each other.

tigbear

Turks are helping Assad in this fight. Whose side are you on?

Dod Grile

They don’t have to drill for oil in Syria. Pasha Poodle (Erdogan) just oozes it. Stick him in a tub and pump away.

What a slimy creep.

tigbear

It’s a bit oily of Assad to do this. I actually made a post about this speculating that Assad might do something like this, but deleted it. He is much too soft on the Kurds. His plan might very well be to let the Kurds keep the areas they have captured and let the status quo run like this.
Maybe that’s why the Euros and USA are keeping quiet about Assad these days. These ZOG agents realize that Assad is playing with them to a certain extent, unlike Saddam and Gaddafi, so they grudgingly tone down their anti-Assad rhetoric.
On the other hand he might be short of money – who knows?
It would be hoped that he was going to “starve” that area of land off. Block them from getting the oil out. Really don’t understand this guy. What does he want in the long term?

tigbear

Does this mean Assad is OK with US bases in his country? He’s given up opposing USA presence in his nation, has decided to give away the northern part to the Kurds, and he will just do business with them, as a neighboring nation of the Kurds? Seems like that’s his plan. So much for the Syrian resistance to Zionism. Syria just became another Jordan.

tigbear

The only excuse for his actions, if the Turkish report is true, is that he is short of money to pay for the warfare. He has long term goals of ousting ALL usurpers, and just agrees to this settlement out of pragmatism. Makes him slimey but a realist, I suppose. However, if that’s not the reason and it’s because he’s accepted the invasion and isn’t going to keep fighting any more after ISIS is removed, it would be very disappointing. It would mean Syria has lost more land, and the area with the richest oil fields too. Zionists win because they get a foothold in Syria, can make the Kurdish separatist state self-financing (with Assad’s cooperation) and they have their goon, America, establishing bases in Syria, weakening the Syria-Iran alliance.
