Construction of 290 kilometers of a concrete protective wall has been completed on the Turkish-Syrian border by now, the Anadolu news agency reported, citing head of the Turkish State Office for Housing Development (TOKI), Ergun Turan. In total, it is planned to build 511 kilometers of the wall.

According to Turan, the construction of the remaining 221 kilometers is being performed very actively and is planned to be completed in the very near future. In addition, 260 kilometers of lateral roads have been built along the wall. The construction of the wall was begun in 2014, but sharply accelerated in 2016.

“Every day, 2.5-3 kilometers of the wall are built on the border, in the near future it will allow to secure Turkish lands against potential threats from the territory of neighboring countries,” Turan noted.

While the total length of the Syrian-Turkish border is about 900 kilometers, the wall will be built on the section of 511 kilometers long due to the terrain conditions.

The wall is constructed of concrete blocks, which width is 2 meters, height is 3 meters and thick is 30 centimeters. Reportedly, the elements of the wall are mobile and, if necessary, they can be moved to another location.

In addition, a one-meter defense wiring, equipped with an alarm, is mounted on the top part of the wall. On a number of sections of the border, the wall is also equipped with the second line of the barbed-wire entanglement. Modernized reinforced concrete watch-towers, whose height is 8 meters, are built behind the wall at certain spacing from each other. The watch-towers are equipped with weapons and automatic alarm systems.

The official task of the wall is to prevent smuggling and illegal crossing of the Syrian-Turkish border. However, human rights groups have already criticized the project, saying that the real purpose of the wall is not to allow refugees to enter Turkey.

Where are the snowflakes? Why has Soros not mobilised the protest riots. I see no mass transport being arranged to get them to Ankara. They may have to obey the lefts respect for Islam and wear full Burkas but I am sure they will do that for the cause.

I find it amazing. Do you think Germany and the EU is paying for this wall?
