On July 6th, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu accused France of supporting Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar and providing a variety of military support to him.
Cavusoglu stated in a joint press conference with the European Union (EU) Foreign Policy Official, Josep Borrell, that France began attacking Turkey after Haftar lost major strategic ground in Libya, “partly due to Turkey’s support of forces aligned with the Government of National Accord (GNA).”
He went on to point out that France was not sincere regarding the Libyan issue, noting that Turkey continues to cooperate with the EU regarding all matters relevant to Libya.
On the same day, Turkish state outlet Anadolu Agency reported, citing local Syrian media, that Russia sent 300 mercenaries (including “former” ISIS members), from the regions under control of President Bashar al-Assad’s in Eastern Syria to fight alongside Haftar’s Libyan National Army (LNA).
“Russia sent “Shabiha” militias affiliated with the Bashar al-Assad government from Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province and 300 warriors, mostly Syrian, from the Iranian-backed foreign groups — Fatimiyyun, Zeynebiyyun and Jerusalem brigades — to Libya, and paying each $1,000-1,500 monthly.”
Meanwhile, on the ground in Libya, there’s no clashes, following the air strikes on Turkish positions in al-Watiya airbase.
Air strikes were also carried out by the LNA on GNA positions west of Abraak al-Shati.

Turkey announced that it was actively using its tanker airplanes together with its warplanes to offer support and refueling. So far, Turkey has used only UAV’s but this may signal that it plans to use manned attack aircraft.

MORE ON THE TOPIC:
Well, it seems Haftar has some friends left, after all….
With very skilled pilots ;)
I will present you the real picture on the ground. Yesterday’s “mysterious” precision strike on the Hawk MIM23 battery has really rattled the Turkeys. The Hawk is a very good self-sustaining medium altitude SAM and in the hands of capable operators, even when fired radar blind in volleys of 2-3 sequence will hit the airborne target once it locks in. The strike was flown by skilled pilots with very good ground it and also exposed the overall ineptitude of Turks. With rising casualties and costs, the goat fucker Erdogan may have bargained more than the Turkeys are capable of. I have a feeling worse is yet to come.
The question is, if the AD Systems were fully activated and operated.
They were placed just 1-2 days before the attack.
The first thing any professional military does is to have the combat engineers test the suitability of the SAM site and also deploy redundant AD and AAA systems, just anticipating such a hostile strike. The Turks are supposedly a “NATO” military, but with such fuckwits they have exposed the low quality of their officer corps. I would expect this type of incompetence from Arabs, not NATO’s second largest military.
There’s a rumor France used Rafael jets to target that area.It was like a live weapons testing as India is about to receive 7 Rafaels :)
NATO bombing NATO as a livestream advertisement? This is going to get interesting.
India already received 4 and not happy with them. You guys sensibly went back to Russian for upgraded MIg 29 and SU-30. Froggie spare parts are very expensive and their majic and matra AAM are total crap. Just ask the poor Argentines.
Looks like Russia conducted the latest airstrike against the Turkish base just like they did in Idlib a few months ago. They’re trying to give multiple messages. First one is, you cannot be permanent in Libya without our company. And the second one is, if you open Hagia Sophia as a mosque (which is a hot topic in Turkiye right now), then you will be doomed.
The pilots were certainly Russian, Armenian or Slavic. The Hawk has a very powerful radar system and to evade that is not child’s play. Erdogan has jailed over 1300 of the militaries best officers and the results are obvious. Things are about to get worse for you guys in Syria too as over 200 Arab tribal chiefs in Idlib, Homs and eastern Euphrates/Raqqa have decided to unite and link up with Iraqi PMU and allied Shia militias and even Kurds in expelling the Turks from Syria. Why do think Russia has expanded its presence at Deir Ezzor?
No chance to expell Turkey with Arab Tribes….
Despite Libya, Turkey is directly at the Border.
Turkish Officers lead the Battles in Afrin, El Bab, Tal Abyad and pounded SAA in Syria.
The case in Wattiya was sloppy, but Turks will learn their lessons from the Wattiya attack and adapt.
Just because Turkey lost AD Systems will not make it pack and leave.
They will be replaced by HISAR-O and with additional KORKUTs.
True to some degree, but these types of endless wars are very expensive and has bankrupted much stronger nations, look at the dumbass Americunts who are now imploding and deadbroke with fuckall to show for in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The Turk effort is pretty limited. It may an effort at appeasement to avoid further ostricization by the Zio block.
There’s a lot of ordinance with more than 30 miles range. Why risk flying into the Hawk field of fire when missiles with more than 30 miles range can be fired from a stand off position?
Exactly, this was a low cost and very effective strike that involved good intel and skilled pilots.
At this stage it’s questionable how much if any NATO support the Turks are getting. If they’re on their own they have reduced intel. Which makes it easier to hit their equipment.
They may have drones with air to air missiles that attacking aircraft may have had to deal with outside of the Hawk range. But that’s speculation.
Yes, it baffling that they have no AWACS or based F-16 in Libya. Without proper CAPS missile sites on ground are exposed and in the modern BVR era will be taken out fast. Supposedly, Turks have NATO military and I am sure their officers read the same books. Let’s hope so.
The Turks are unlikely to put their limited AWACS capability anywhere near Libya without F-16 escorts. Particularly if they’re going to be entertaining Libyan airspace. Which risks peer escalation.
The Egyptians and UAE have been flying over Libya for years. And whatever the “LNA Airforce” consists of. It’s more than a few poorly maintained Mig 21s and 23s and a handful of pilots who haven’t flown in 10 years.
To send a signal : ” We are smarter than you, and can get you whenever WE want…”
Yes, i believe the pilots were highly skilled and the planes were high-tech which shows that was not Haftar’s forces. That ‘jailed military officer tale’ is not true. It’s an American based propaganda. They were from Gulen movement which are prior enemy of secularism in Türkiye. They’ve caused a huge scar in our army but we still have great pilots and other staff.
As I have said before, the only way Turkey can fight a prolonged and sapping war in Libya is to bring in AWACS and F-16 and that my friend is an expensive process and will entail more casualties. Syria is a different matter as it is adjacent to your country. Even the US could not fight wars far from home.
Exactly. It’s almost impossible to maintain the operation this way in the long term. We need real allies. That’s why erdogan should improve his relations with the Eurasian Block(Russia,Iran,China, etc).
Smart man. Indeed, as I have said, when he came to power I was hopeful as he said that Turkey wants “zero problems” with its neighbors, but now the opposite is true. I did a staff officers course at your The Strategic Research Institute in the 1980’s and your officers were quite clued in and knew the pitfalls of getting involved in the Arab mess after the Ottoman experience. I think Erdogan is naive and is overreaching.
..an I suppose Erdogsn was not an enemy of secularism then; when he was pals with Gulen? I suppose he is not an enemy of Secularism now?
Didn’t the Hawks have korel radars? Turkish -made radars? Not us -made or designed.
Hagia Sophia is not a such big issue in the modern Russia as Turkish mass-media want to present.
In any case, it should remain as a museum as a token of respect to all religions.
There is a prophecy in Orthodox Christianity about Hagia Sophia and looks like it started to fulfill.
Turkey like most nations was better off being secular. Religion mixed with politics is a recipe for a cluster fuck.
when the turkeys withdraw from Libya they can use words like sincerity and I will not laugh
Turks a projecting…
Hey SouthFront, please do something about the ads, because they are a misery,
Have to reload a page 3-4 times sometimes…
Thanks.
I agree, they are pissing me off and they will lose readers. Good man. Dear Southfront please can the pop up ads, they are giving people the shits and are counter-productive.
?
Use Adblock if you are using Google browser. It get rids of all pop-ups (just go over it with your mouse, right click and disable with Adblock).
I’ve no doubt this is in response to the funding shortfall of donations. Don’t begrudge them the ad revenue if you don’t donate.
Good point. They have to keep in viable as hasbara trolls don’t pay as usual and Jew cunts wants a free ride :)
Anyone for a cooked turkey?Lol.Ottoman empire collapsing as Turks continue to die and erdogan is panicking after seeing the body bags.
Turkey is making one mistake after the other…the wall are closing in and the End is night for Erdo kid gan ..now he is begging Greece to start Talks…after all the shit and theater he put up with the drilling ships…he is so funny…and cornered
Erdogan is an emotional religious cunt without serving a day in the military and the military is too weak to give him proper advice as a dictator never likes the truth. The Turks are way over their heads in Libya and soon Syria. This is not the 18th century. The first thing a professional and independent military intelligence does is to prepare a strategic options operational plan. It looks like the Turks are fighting a colonial war on the cheap using untrained Syrian refugee kids corralled into an expeditionary force. Not likely to end well. The Wehrmacht Afrika Korps could not even pull that off. Believe me, Erdogan is no Rommel.
” When you shoot ,shoot … Don’t talk”
Tuco in ” the Good ,the bad and the ugly”spagetti western movie .
Listen to Tuco,Greeks…
another useless comment that dosent even make sense …so many orcs in here
You misunderstood. It was pro Greek and anti Turk.
I was telling the Greeks not to use too many words…just shoot when the time comes, as words have not worked for decades now. The Turk understands only fire and steel.
Turkey and Russia shall be partners for their own national interest. There is too much to lose on both sides. In Syria, Libya and Iraq, if Turkey, Russia, Iran and Syria coordinates truly there won’t be any western imperialism left in the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean. There are two problems which prevents this type of a union to happen. The Israel factor and the fanatical religious tendencies of Erdogan. I am afraid Israel has a big influence in Russia. 80 percent of the oligarchs are jewish and dual Israeli citizens. Russia will never be an independent and respected actor in the region if this continues. The Eurasian patriotic integrists shall take over in Russia, before its too late. In Turkey on contrary true patriotic secular forces shall be in charge. Otherwise it may end up even with a war in between Russia and Turkey, which would benefit only Israel, US and the west in general. May be China should get involved to mediate between Turkey and Russia as well. We’ll see.
Won’t last. Russia is Orthodox and Turkey has a very Conservative Sunni jihadist population. A few Kemalist Secularists in the cities especially on the Aegean will not tip the balance. Iran is Shiite and proud of its own civilization and Islam. China the same, and won’t have any Islamic interference at all.
In any case , Turkey has shown it could never be a Secularist Moslem nation. 100 years and went backwards of its own accord. It always reverted and reverts to type ie bloodthirsty jihadist mentality.
The only Secularist Moslem nations de jure are Syria and Iraq and that is why they were destroyed by the other Moslems and America. Iran is Theocratic but its foreign policy is de facto Secularist and that is good enough for me.
Wrong assumptions again. Firstly, Turkish population is 3/4 conservative, over 90 percent Muslim but not islamist jihadist. The islamist and jihadist would probably account no more than 5-10 percent of the entire population and this is only after Erdogan. Secularist are around 60 percent (statistics from the election polls). Even the ones casting their votes to Erdogan mostly consider themselves anything but jihadist. Secondly, in international affairs, religion, race and color doesn’t matter, what matters is the national interests and geopolitical alliances. Thirdly, you are a total idiot. I remember once you telling me that you are not a Greek. I assume you are from either a chickenshit eastern European country or from the Baltic region. Due my profession I had to deal with bunch of eastern Europeans and I am going to tell you something. These folks were one of the most pathetic people I’ve ever met. Pitiful in the sense of high inferiority complex against the real west (the Nordic Europe) , psychologically crushed by centuries of domination either by Russia, Germany or Ottoman Turks. Your type of comments I would hear from them quite regularly, be it from a Romanian, Bulgarian or Latvian. I really had difficult times to communicate with them logically. The personality disorder also partly comes for decades being under communist regimes. They were highly calculative of little chickenshit details, highly possessive, cheap on the money, indecisive and always looking for guidance. At least Turks were their very own boss throughout the history and thus they are proud of their heritage and background. I could see generally two types among the eastern Europeans , the ones being highly frustrated to be what they are (eastern European) and the second type being highly fanatical religiously and/or politically, possibly to cover up their inferiority complex and frustrations. Both groups usually would adore real western Europeans, especially the Americans and British. I’ve found this fact highly troublesome, but it doesn’t come as a surprise when you look at those countries how they’ve acted towards those AngloZionists imperialists following the collapse of the Berlin Wall. These countries became the perfect puppets, useful idiots and cannon fodders for the imperial west.
Are you done now? Thank you for your psychoanalysis of me. It saved me hundreds of dollars with the Jewish ones in Manhattan.
Now don’t disparage Eastern Euros or Greeks too much. If I scratch you deep enough ,I will find you to be a Greek,Albanian or Jew anyway , just like Erdogan ,Akar and Kemal respectively.
There is no such thing as a Turk . There are only citizens who feel Turkish ie loyal to the former Ottoman Empire’s culture and religion. Your DNA is mostly Greek ,Armenian ,Assyrian and you know it. Maybe a crueler ,more emotional subtype as the insecure and criminal subject peoples were the first to convert. At least Erdo was converted in the last major wave of forced Islamicisations. Who knows ,even you may be Rumca like Erdo and Mesut Yilmaz ?
The Turks are cocky as they have not been punished yet . All empires fall and break apart. Greek , Hellenistic ,Roman , Byzantine ,Sassanian ,Arab,Mongol ,Ottoman,British and soon American.
Seventy years of occupation and you will cower too ; like those Eastern Euros you despise.
P.S. What does your response have to do with what you andI originally said about the alliances of Turkey ,China and Russia?
In that regard, is there anything like a Greek, Romanian, Latvian or a Serb, Russian? I don’t think so. Greeks for instance are far from being original (aka ancient Greeks). Their genome is mixed with northern Africans, Turkic tribes, Balkan people like Albanians and Gypsies. For Romanians the same, albeit with higher Gypsy percentage. Russians originate from mixed Slavic and Turkic people. You can not deny. There is NOT such a thing as pure nations. The exceptions may be aboriginal people in different parts of the world due to isolation. If a nation has an imperial past the more likely it is much more mixed. What makes someone loyal to the country is 1- Common history with the people living within the same boundaries, 2- Common language, 3- Common customs 4- Common Religion (with lesser degree). Mutual genome is what you have within you as a result of historical DNA mixture, but doesn’t make you a member of a nation. To make it clear, lets assume you have 20% Macedonian, 20%Albanian, 20%Gypsy, 20%North African, 20% Turkic genes. You are born in Greece and identify yourself with this nation. You are Greek because you are loyal to that Nation and you ancestors lived in that country with the customs. You are NOT an ancient Greek, or Roman or ancient Egyptian. Same applies to Turks, Russians etc. French is another example. French people have German, Italian, Spanish, British,Polish, Arab blood. Is there such a thing as “pure” French? No a French is someone who identifies with the land, customs and history. I know what I am saying here is against the political brainwashing of racist, fascist indoctrinations of Greeks or same eastern Europeans (like Serbs for instance). I am Turk not because what mixture I have in my blood , but I am Turkish because of the history, custom and language of my ancestors for centuries as Turkish. My ancestors fought and shed blood for this country over centuries. You can never change this fact, for instance tell people from the Black sea (Pontus in history), that they are Greek, Armenian or Georgian. If you say that in this region you will guaranteed get a beating, as the folks of black sea are one the most patriotic and nationalist Turks. They are one of the people having contributed the most into Turkish history, as soldiers. viziers, politicians or else. So I would suggest the Greek and others to stop playing this divisive, ethnicity games. Turks can not be divided. They have a great historical imperial past, custom and language and that is what binds them altogether. Nations with great imperial past can never be divided. This is a historical fact.
I agree my dear Rumca. At least with the blood and culture as I am mentioned it to you ,remember?
The Pontic Moslems are the most cruel because they are the Newly Converted ,my friend. Insecure and more” Catholic than the Pope himself” , many descendants of Janissaries through no fault of their won. Like I said Erdo , is from one of the last places in Asia Minor to be Turkified and Islamified. Took the Turks 1000 years to do it. So , in a way I don’t blame him for acting the way he does. Can you blame a rabid dog for being sick ,through no fault of its own?
You have many CryptoChristians in Asia Minor. You even have major Divides with the Moslems ie Alevi , Kurds and Sunni “Turks” proper.
Anyway ,next time.
For Lo! The return of the fabled ‘Shabiha’! Where would the Zio-Nazi Lord Haw-Haws be without these legendary cryptozoological entities!
