Tribal Fighters Killed Six ISIS Terrorists In Ambush In Western Iraq

Screen grab from a video showing Al Jaghayfa January 5 ambush.

Late on July 16, fighters of the Al Jaghayfa ambushed a group of ISIS terrorists in the Haditha district in the western Iraqi province of al-Anbar.

Citing an unnamed Iraqi security source, the Buratha News Agency said that the tribal fighters killed six terrorists during the ambush. One of the slain terrorists was a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt. Al Jaghyafa fighters also captured two pickup trucks as well as some weapons and ammunition.

ISIS cells are known to be highly active in al-Anbar. The province’s vast desert is a historical stronghold of the terrorist group.

This was not the first attack by Al Jaghayfa on ISIS terrorists. On January 5, the tribe’s fighters ambushed a cell of the group deep in al-Anbar desert. Several terrorists were killed.

The Al Jaghyafa tribe has been hunting down ISIS cells in al-Anbar to avenge one of their leaders, engineer Amir al-Fahdaui, who was abducted then executed by the terrorists.

Iraqi tribal fighters continue to play an important role in the war on ISIS, which appears to losing its influence. Most tribal fighters are organized within the Tribal Mobilization Forces, one of the largest pro-government factions in the country.

The video is of the Jan ambush . Lucky the machine gunner didn’t take out several of his own when he followed the vehicle as it sped past.
