As it has become customary, Yemen’s Ansar Allah are reportedly on the upper hand against the Saudi-led coalition.
On July 28th, the Houthis (as Ansar Allah is known) claimed that they had captured the only remaining base of the Saudi-led coalition in the southern part of Marib province.
On July 27th, Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen reported that a “massive explosion” had rocked an outpost hosting Saudi-led coalition’s forces in Marib.
The blast took place as a result of a bombing of the headquarters, it said, but did not provide any further details about the extent of the casualties or damage that the attack might have caused.
In the days leading up to this alleged success, the Houthis carried out an almost daily drone and missile campaign. Such campaigns are regular and usually happen for several days in a row.
On the other side, on July 28th, the Saudi-led coalition claimed some success.
First, it claimed that its air-defense had intercepted four ballistic missiles and two suicide drones which were launched from Yemen by the Houthis. The coalition said that it was taking “operational measures” to target the sources of these missiles and drones, without providing any additional details.
Later in the day, Riyadh’s forces claimed that an attack with a booby-trapped drone by the Houthis in the central province of al-Bayda was foiled.
Finally, Saudi-backed forces shot down a Samad-1 reconnaissance drone of the Houthis over the central Yemen province of al-Bayda. The drone was reportedly operating over al-Qunthu’a front in the district of Na’man.
Days earlier, on July 24, the Saudi-led coalition intercepted four suicide drones and a ballistic missile which were allegedly launched by the Houthis at a number of targets in Saudi Arabia’s southern region.
The Saudi-led coalition claimed that the suicide drones were on their way to hit a number of targets in southern Saudi Arabia. So does the ballistic missile that was heading to the Kingdom’s southern city of Jizan.
The Saudi-led coalition has recently improved its defense capabilities, if its claims are to be trusted.
Still, the Houthis are still carrying out successful attacks on various positions within the Kingdom with their suicide drones, missiles, booby-trapped boats and others.
Heavy airstrike activity is still present on the Saudi-led coalition’s side, with at least 20 airstrikes on various districts taking place on July 27th alone, and at least 10 more on July 28th.
Clashes between the Houthis and Saudi-led coalition forces are in a constant back-and-forth in the province of Marib, as well as in al-Bayda, Nate and others.
The Houthis are pushing, and calls that a humanitarian disaster is near are also becoming increasingly vocal. They are entirely silent when Riyadh’s forces carry out nearly 200 daily ceasefire violations in al-Hudaydah and their unrelenting airstrike campaign.
„Howthies“??? Please, they are called Houthis, „Hoothies“ حوثيون
Exactly my thoughts. And these drons are called explosive drones, or drones with warhead. And moreover they are Yemenis. Period.
