On her second visit to Ukraine within a month, Annalena Berbock will visit the conflict area in the Donbas. She named what she considers a more serious threat to Ukraine than a military invasion.
The interruption, of energy resources to Ukraine as well as the cyber attack are more serious threats for Kiev than a “tank attack”. This was said by German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. The broadcast was published on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
“Germany is making a major financial contribution to Ukraine’s security. An attack is possible not only militarily, but also a cyberattack, an energy cutoff. This is worse than a tank attack,” Berbock said.
She pointed out that Germany is prepared for various scenarios that could have serious economic consequences.
Berbock added that Berlin is closely monitoring Russian troop movements near Ukraine’s borders.
“We do not participate in speculations in public, we have made it clear that as a NATO partner, as a G7 member, as an EU member, we see different scenarios, and of course we follow very closely what troop movements, what exercises, what troop reinforcements take place on the border. We are watching that very closely,” she said.
