2,303 civilians were killed and 1,876 others were wounded as a result of the violence in Afghanistan in 2018, the Taliban claimed in its fresh report summing up developments of the year. According to the group, 83% of the casualties were caused by actions of the US-led coalition and its allied Kabul government.

As for Afghan citizens are killed and injured, they’ll turn more towards the Taliban.

4000 civilian casualties for a year of war in a country like Afghanistan? That’s nothing. I would have expected at least 10x as much. And apparently the Taliban keeps excellent records, as they got the numbers down to the single digits. Usually these numbers are rounded up, or down, depending on political needs.
