On March 8, the Syrian Liberation Front (SLF) launched a counter-attack against Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in the western Aleppo countryside and recaptured the villages of al-Sa’adiyah and A’jil as well as the al-Rahal housing complex, according to the SLF-linked news agency Midad Press.

The Midad Press said that SLF fighters had destroyed a BMP-1 armored vehicle and had shot down an armed drone of HTS. Moreover, a group of HTS fighters was captured by the SLF.

The villages of  al-Sa’adiyah and A’jil and the al-Rahal housing complex were captured by HTS fighters during a rapid attack on March 7.

Meanwhile, the HTS-linked news agency Iba’a reported that HTS fighters had imposed their control over the town of Khan al-Asal west of Aleppo city. However, several pro-SLF sources denied Iba’a’s claims and said that several positions inside the town are still under the SLF control.

The ongoing conflict between HTS and the SLF will likely go on for days to come, as several reconciliations attempts have already failed, according to Syrian opposition sources. Most of these reconciliation efforts have been led by several US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups including Faylaq al-Sham.
