The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) have taken control of the Reyhan Cemetery in the Eastern Ghouta region near the Syrian capital, Damascus. The area had been controlled by members of the Jaish al-Islam militant group.

Now, the army and the NDF is clashing with militants inside the town of Reyhan. If the town is liberated, the pro-government forces will be able to launch a military operation in order to encircle the militant forces deployed in northeastern part of the region.
