On Friday, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that its fighters stormed Wasiah village south of al-Suwar town in the northern Deir Ezzor countryside. The SDF said that its fighters captured half of the village so far, and killed 5 fighters of ISIS.
The SDF also reported that its fighters repelled an attack of ISIS on its positions in al-Kasrah Hill in the northwestern Deir Ezzor countryside. 5 ISIS fighters were killed during the failed attack, according to the SDF.
Meanwhile, in the southern al-Hasakah countryside, the SDF advanced 9km towards Markada town, according to Kurdish sources. The SDF fighters killed 4 ISIS fighters while they were advancing towards the town.
In a related development, the SDF announced that its fighters are advancing now towards al-Asuad stadium in the center of Raqqa city. The SDF revealed that ISIS has turned the two bunkers under the stadium to a jail, and dug a network of tunnels around the stadium.
SDF fighters are still unable to advance around the national hospital in the center city. However, SDF fighters evacuated 25 civilians from the western parts of the city, where few positions are still under ISIS control.
