The Syrian Army laid a partial siege on the terrorists in the central part of Darayya due to advances of the government forces against terrorists groups in the town, the Fars news agency reported on Tuesday, citing military sources.

“The Syrian government forces have entered to the central part of Darayya, where the Liwa Shohada al-Islam and the Ajnad al-Sham have been partially trapped,” the sources said. “The Syrian army has gained upper hand in Darayya and completed a circle of its forces around the militant-held neighborhoods in Darayya,” they added.

On Monday, the Syrian Army captured more buildings in the town of Darayya in western Ghouta, continuing to beat back terrorists from their positions. A fresh round of attacks on the terrorist groups’ defense lines was launched by Syrian troops. As result, the terrorists were pushed back from the Nouralddeen Shahid grand mosque and several buildings near the mosque. A crucial role in army’s advances was played by the Syrian artillery units.

According to Fars, citing local sources, the army was engaged in cleansing operation in the Western part of the railway.

“Recent advances of the army have paved the way for government forces to carry out fresh operation in Central Darayya,” the sources said.

There are several terrorist groups, including Shohada al-Islam brigade, Itehad Islami and Ajnad al-Sham, in Darayya.
