The Syrian Army and the National Defense Forces (NDF), backed by Russian warplanes, seized high points at the Hayyal Mountain near the ISIS-held ancient city of Palmyra on Sunday.
Controlling this strategic mountain, the army and the NDF were able to set a fire control over the Palmyra Triangle, an important site at the western gates of Palmyra.
Government troops also liberated the Quarries area northwest of Palmyra. These advances clearly show that government forces are set to kick off the operation to retake the ancient city from ISIS terrorists.
Io hope next they will free east homs-south palmyra.
What happened to attacking Uqayribat? These idiots are really going to have a long, thin extremely vulnerable salient for the 3rd fucking time? Really? It wasn’t clear after the first or the second time they had to flee for their lives due to being outflanked?
I doubt that the Syrian Government forces can afford to squander men, after the US head-chopping, heart-eating, rapers have killed so many. Faut de mieux they have to be methodical and rely on fire-power, particularly from the RAF. Palmyra isn’t all that tactically important, it’s what comes after that matters.
And what’s that?
Where the Syrians counter-attack next. Where do the roads from Palmyra go?
deir ezzor?
Most oil and gas is around that region, Palmyra is important link to der ezzor so once capture again they will go ahead to link all terrotry together. SAA doing some real damage now and on last gear to kill all he terrorsit. Viva Syria
Yes I agree. Hopefully they know something we don’t, or have figured out something IS hasn’t thought of yet. We shall see.
