On February 25, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) repelled an militant attack and destroyed a VBIED in the Jobar district in the northern part of the East Ghouta pocket, according to the Hezbollah media wing in Syria.
Earlier, the SAA and its allies launched their ground operation in the southern part of the East Ghouta pocket and captured the towns and villages of Nashabiyah, Hazrama, Tal Farzat and Salehiya.
The Ahrar al-Sham Movement, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and US-backed Faylaq al-Rahman announced that their fighters had clashed with the SAA in the northern part of East Ghouta. Militants allegedly destroyed an armored bulldozer of the SAA with a US-made TOW ATGM.
Meanwhile, the Jaysh al-Islam-linked news agency Kumait claimed that Jaysh al-Islam fighters had killed 25 SAA soldiers, captured two others and damaged a battle tank of the SAA during the clashes in the southern part of East Ghouta. However, photos released by the news agency showed that only 4 soldiers of the SAA had been killed.
Observers believe that the SAA and its allies will develop their attack in the southern part of the Eastern Ghouta pocket and attack the towns of Utaya, Hawsh al-Khanun Nazik and Byat Na’im in the upcoming hours.
