Syrian Army Is Preparing For Possible Military Operation In Daraa

On May 16, helicopters of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) drooped thousands of leaflets over the Lajat region in the northeastern Daraa countryside, in which it called on militants to surrender their weapons and to join the reconciliation process, according to the Syrian pro-opposition news outlet Enab Baladi. Such leaflets are usually dropped by SyAAF as a warning ahead of military operations.

An officer in the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) told SouthFront on May 17 that SAA units around Damascus are indeed preparing for a possible military operation in the governorates of Daraa and al-Quneitra. According to the officer, the supposed operation will likely begin once the ISIS pocket in southern Damascus is eliminated.

According to local observers, the Lajat region will likely be the first target of the SAA as its poses a serious threat to the al-Suwayda-Damascus highway, the Daraa-Damascus highway and the  Khalkhalah airbase. Last week, militants of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched an attack from Lajat and killed seven officers of the SAA on the al-Suwayda-Damascus highway.

Russia and the US imposed a ceasefire over the governorates of Daraa and al-Quneitra in July of 2017. However, Syrian pro-government activists said that the ceasefire was limited to six months only, which means that the SAA and its allies are now, once again, free to operate in southern Syria.

Go ahead, be brave, without fear, and be ready with anti-missile since FOR SURE Israel attack Syria army here. So, be also ready to shut down Israel planes.

I think Syrian would lob another salvoes of rocket towards Golan Heights settlement if they’re forced to do so.

You can call me Al

I heard somewhere (probably on here), that they are setting up numerous local militias in the Golan heights -> locals + Druze + others……I am more interested in seeing what happens between them and the Israelis, than the missiles. I actually feel, if the World sees that, in conjunction with the poor old sods in Palestine, undergoing genocide and indeed in The Lebanon – there must be a change of thought SURELY ?!!.

I’ve read that there are a large number of US and “other” troops just on the Jordanian side of the border, so if true, you are right, expect lots of come back from Israel and Jordan.

That is why they are worried about the Daraa being liberated by the SAA as this would put a damper on their ambitions as the Monarchy of Jordan will open up the borders and ask the US/NATO/GCC forces to withdraw from Jordan. Things are never black and white in these situations as they all agreed if this happened withdrawal would be the only option in that eventual outcome. Hashemites Jordanians can be ordered to withdraw by it’s Government and why they fight with little effectiveness against ISIS not as well trained and equipped and controlled by the King of Jordan.

Buffer zone in Dara must be liberated in order to isolate Isreal.

Trump and Netanyahu both are busy in destabilizing Syria. Both criminals are holding Syrians hostage.

Trump and Netanyahu both are responsible for the butchering million of civilians and for the crisis in the middle east region.

Due to US and Israeli intervention in the Middle East countries several crisis have emerged which cannot be ignored. The hostages in the Trump and Netanyahu held areas are now dying due to starvation, disease and toxic water.

I’m sure the SAA will be lobbing lotsa rockets at Israel to which Israel will have to respond to “IRAN – DEFEND OURSELVES!!!!!!”
