On September 13, a source in the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) 4th Division told SouthFront that the army destroyed three fortified positions of militants in the northern Lattakia countryside with anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs).
Russian journalist, Oleg Blokhin, released a video showing one of the ATGM strikes, in which several militants were killed and injured. A second video, also taken by Blokhin, shows the SAA destroying a surveillance camera, which had been planted by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) fighters on a destroyed armored vehicle to monitor movements of the SAA.
Hundreds of militants are currently stationed in the opposition-held areas in northern Lattakia, mainly in the Turkmen mount, according to Syrian pro-government sources. Most of these terrorists are members of radical groups such as HTS, the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), Horas al-Din and the Chechen-led Ajnad al-Kavkaz.
The situation in northern Lattakia is expected to escalate in the upcoming few hours, especially that the militants there shelled several civilian areas north of the city of Lattakia.
