Today, Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hezbollah have captured the Al-Madraj hill and 3 ISIS positions southeast of Umm al-Sarg al-Kabli in the eastern Homs countryside.

The advance followed intense strikes by warplanes and TOS-1A heavy multiple rocket launcher systems on ISIS positions in the area.

Pro-government sources spoke about the imminent resumption of the SAA military operation against ISIS in the eastern Aleppo countryside. Its first goal seems to be the Al-Jarah military airport, which is used by ISIS militants as a forward base in the area. Militants also use the airport to launch attacks against SAA positions. For example, on Sunday, they attacked SAA positions in Adrisa.

If the airbase is liberated, the strategic town of Maskaneh will become the next target of the advance. Maskaneh is located between the eastern Aleppo countryside and the western Raqqa countryside.

Separately, the SAA may also start an operation from the eastern Hama countryside to capture the Al-Aqerabbat area.

Thus, the SAA aims to capture the desert region in the Maskana-Aqerabbat-Palmyra triangle. If it captures this area and the strategic town of Al-Sokhna, ISIS will not be able to defend the desert road between Al-Sokhna and Deir Ezzor.

These operations will likely take place at the same time as the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) resume their push towards the ISIS-held city of Raqqa.

It is also believed that the main purpose of the safe zones agreement signed in Astana is to allow sides to focus combating ISIS in the Syrian desert. Thus, Syria, Iran, Russia and US will work together informally.

It’s also worth to mention that US-led collation warplanes targeted ISIS around Palmyra on Sunday.

“Ooh-aah, Hezbollah, sing ooh-aah Hezbollah.”

Fritz Otto

thats really a mess with these arabic location and town names – every religion seems to have an other name and orthographe! – I cant understand, why these peoples who a configuring wikimapia are not able to use the english names what are all used in all international and public messages!??? Actually its impossible the most of the last names on southfront.org

PZIVJ

But you can misspell the names in your post, and nobody will think twice about it.
It may actually be correct in another dialect. :)

Fritz Otto

I use wikimapia and google.maps to try to find the locations. And also I try to search with google. And I make a paste and copy to use the advantages of the IT-century. But since all these programms are not able to find the location I have no idea how to follow the movements of the SAA… And THATS my interest!

Bill Wilson

I use Wikipedia’s Interactive Map of the Syrian Civil War to find the towns and villages mentioned in articles. One has to hold the cursor over a dot for it’s name to appear on the screen. Sometimes the spellings are the same or close enough to figure out that it’s it. Quite often the small villages aren’t shown on the maps unless there’s a major squirmish going on at one.
South Front needs someone to correct spelling and grammar errors. They do have excellent maps and photographs.

Bill Wilson

Those 36 “missing” cruise missiles screwed up a bunch of roads that Daesh relied upon inside the desert. Daesh has withdrawn fighters in the west to redeploy by Deir Azzor and Mayadin. I think they were forced to use the roads along the Euphrates to pick-up supplies and get better vehicles or theirs fixed at the villages along the way before being sent to staging areas inside the desert or closer to D-Z. Then while they were wasting time doing that, the SAF, RAF and USAF cratered the roads behind them and their planned routes south so now are stuck in limbo. The SAA and Russians should have bridgelaying and bulldozer tanks for their excursion thru the desert to get pass the damaged locations.

PZIVJ

It is now time for Russian air power to hit the Daesh Palmyra to Dier Ezzor axis. I doubt they will weather this storm well. ISUS bulldozers should be a prime target (no more road repair).

Yeah man, still searching for ‘strategic town of khafseh’ near palmyra. Pretty sure they meant khunayfis or sukhnah, both times they used it. The only other khafseh is near manbijj.

Anyways, Adrisa is Idrisiyah to the north of Jirah, and AL Madraj / Umm al Sarg al Kabli is probably southwest of Soha and Uqayribat, where they were advancing near Shumriya mountains last week.

Beautiful to hear the last little bits of Aleppo will be secured.

God, it must suck to be a Nusrat, losing everything you fought for.

Bill Wilson

Looks like those two gunners no longer have a truck for their heavy launchers so now are forced to use a pipe prop and welding protection to use them as bazookas.

Real Anti-Racist Action

Hezbollah has become the God-sent saviors of Monotheist around the world, protecting us all from atheist-Jews and their fake-Sunni-subjects.
Christians need to pour in support to our Monotheist brothers and sister in the ME and around the world and help defend against the coming faults Christ who seeks to wipe out Christians and Shia and Alawite and Zoroastrian’s and Hindu’s alike.
Lets us all unite in a common defense of one another’s home lands today!

Ronald

On the Christians , I am surprised the Lebanese Army is not more actively involved in supporting the SAA . Especially in the nearby Homs – Hama area .
But then , maybe they are , just flying under Hezbollah’s name .

Real Anti-Racist Action

I agree with you. From what I have understood for about the past 8 years is that Lebanon’s military has been promised hundreds of millions of dollars in military supplies for free funded mostly by Saudi Arabia and some from the US NATO and other places, and in order to receive it they had to reject supplies from Iran.
Well of these goodies were suppose to be delivered like 6 years ago.
Every time Lebanon says they are just going to accept Iran’s assistance, then Saudi And USA rush them a few items and then threaten to cut all funding if they receive anything from Iran.
So basically Saudi Arabia has no intend to truly deliver, they are just stringing the gullible Lebanon military along to prevent them from arming to the point where they could defend themselves from an Israeli invasion.

Concrete Mike

Yes I remember thé particular instances wich Saudi “pleged” support to Lebanon, anything Saudi “gives” you is like a Damoclès Sword Hanging over you.

À long time ago we were brainwashed into thinking Hezbollah was thé enemy, I actually got in a decent argument with à Tunisian friend, I’m so à shamed of that, Karim was 100% correct, I remember him looking at me like I was à fool, because I was…I still am actually lol but at least I admit it!!

I know who the real ennemy is now, its thé media, thé Banks and thé MIC, Eisenhower was correct.

We must all unité as humans to stop thèse madmen from killing us all. I call upon every Man woman and child to resist opression and intolérance. All religions races ethnicity are all human constructs, we are all thé same no one is better than anyone else.

Keep IT Up patriot, I may not agréé with everything you Say, but your on the right path and I support you in helping end this foolishness were into before we all kill each other.
