Syrian Army Advances in Damascus: Dozens of Terrorists Killed

After the end of a ceasefire was declared, special operations of the Syrian Army have been resumed in the province of Damascus. As result, dozens of terrorists were killed in the town of Jobar.

Missile strikes against positions of the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (perviously known as the Al-Nusra Front or the Jabhat al-Nusra) were carried out by the Syrian Armed Forces in eastern Ghouta. As result, a number of terrorists was killed or wounded inside Jobar town. As the Fars news agency reported, citing an unnamed battlefield source, at least 15 terrorists were killed by ground-to-ground missiles near the Electricity Foundation building in Jobar.

Meanwhile, defense lines of the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham inside the town were attacked by ground units of the Syrian Army. Syrian soldiers destroyed terrorists’ hideouts and weapons.

The end of the ceasefire was declared by the Syrian Army on Monday due to the fact that terrorists did not adhere to any of provisions, stated in the truce agreement. The Syrian Armed Forces announced a continuation of the fight against terrorism after the end of the truce, and did not disclose any information about a possibility of the truce recovery in future.

The truce started last week. On September 9, a new peace plan to resolve the conflict in Syria was announced by US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. According to the plan, the sides should announce a ceasefire and start anti-terrorism cooperation.

As the Russian General Staff reported, the ceasefire has been violated by terrorist groups over 300 times since it took effect.

On Monday, a senior military source told Fars that Syrian troops are on alert to restart operations against terrorists in the towns of Douma and Jobar in Damascus province, if terrorist groups would violate the ceasefire.

“Syrian army’s troops have still kept the siege of the city of Douma in Damascus countryside after retaking control of Hawsh a-Farah, and they are waiting for Douma people’s response to the national reconciliation plan and a repetition of the successful Darayya experience,” the source said.

He also added that the Army would advance towards new points in these regions, if efforts to implement the national reconciliation plans in Douma and Jobar fail.

What, Kerry didn’t draw a Red line warning Assad not to take Damascus?
I’m surprised. I expect him to be totally shameless at all times.
