Syria Opposition Backers Wanted To Use ISIS As Tool “To Isolate The Syrian Regime”: Defense Intelligence Agency Documents

On May 18, 2015 the US nonprofit watchdog group Judicial Watch published a selection of documents reveling that US intelligence had predicted the rise of ISIS and saw it as their own tool for regime change in Syria.

Judicial Watch obtained the documents from the US Department of Defense (DOD) and the US State Department through a federal lawsuit.

“THE WEST, GULF COUNTRIES, AND TURKEY [WHO] SUPPORT THE [SYRIAN] OPPOSITION… THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF ESTABLISHING A DECLARED OR UNDECLARED SALAFIST PRINCIPALITY IN EASTERN SYRIA (HASAKA AND DER ZOR), AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE SUPPORTING POWERS TO THE OPPOSITION WANT, IN ORDER TO ISOLATE THE SYRIAN REGIME…,” the document dated August 12, 2012 reads.

The document stressed that the opposition in Syria led by al Qaeda and other extremist groups could have “dire consequences” for Iraq and the “grave danger” of the rise of ISIS:

“This creates the ideal atmosphere for AQI [al Qaeda Iraq] to return to its old pockets in Mosul and Ramadi, and will provide a renewed momentum under the presumption of unifying the jihad among Sunni Iraq and Syria, and the rest of the Sunnis in the Arab world against what it considers one enemy, the dissenters. ISI could also declare an Islamic state through its union with other terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria, which will create grave danger in regards to unifying Iraq and the protection of its territory.”

A document from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) dated September 12, 2012 revealed that the US DOD had “immediately reported” that the attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya had been carried out by al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood-linked “Brigades of the Captive Omar Abdul Rahman” (BCOAR), and had been planned “at least 10 days in advance”.

According to the DIA report “the leader of BCOAR is Abdul Baset ((AZUZ)), AZUZ was sent by ((ZAWARI)) to set up Al Qaeda (AQ) bases in Libya.”

The documents also pointed out that US President Obama’s administration had known that weapons had been shipped “from the Port of Benghazi” to rebel troops in Syria. A report of October 2012 announced:

“Weapons from the former Libya military stockpiles were shipped from the port of Benghazi, Libya to the Port of Banias and the Port of Borj Islam, Syria. The weapons shipped during late-August 2012 were Sniper rifles, RPG’s, and 125 mm and 155mm howitzers missiles.”

“These documents also point to connection between the collapse in Libya and the ISIS war – and confirm that the U.S. knew remarkable details about the transfer of arms from Benghazi to Syrian jihadists,” stated Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton.

In September 2012, a coordinated attack against two US government facilities occurred in Benghazi, Libya. On September 11, members of Ansar al-Sharia Islamic militant group attacked a US diplomatic compound in Benghazi resulting in the deaths of US Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens and US Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith. On September 12, the group launched a mortar attack against a CIA annex, killing CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty and wounding ten others.

No news that the Western powers and their Sunni allies wanted a Salafist principality to arise, as a counter to Assad and Iran. No news either that they used ISIS indirectly as a tool against Assad as well. Too bad that the joke was on them as well as ISIS was no one’s tool and carried out attacks against the West in the West. Delicious scoops of irony so thick and tasty you could sell them from a 1st class ice cream salon. They helped create a monster which also turned against them. And how could it have gone any other way? Did they really think Jihadism would stop at the Syrian border?

‘Oh no, now we’re outside Syria, now we will be on our best behavior, Mr. CIA agent.’

You support Jihadism, you’re not just playing with fire, you’re playing with fire in an extremely inflammable and volatile environment. And eventually they WILL bite the hand that feeds them. It’s in their friggin’ mandate. They’re not in there just to fight for salafism in Syria, they’re in it to establish a world wide salafist caliphate.

I am sorry, but I do not believe the ISIS attacks in Europe were accidental nor undertaken by themselves only. All planned before hand to undermine Europe and instill fear for both greater US arms sales and further wars.

Barba_Papa

Terrorism in Europe does not increase arms sales as tanks and jet fighters do not stop lone wolves living in Europe from running amok. And those would be the only things the yanks could sell to Europe as all the smaller stuff gets manufactured locally.

I don’t put any stock in theories of all powerful conspiracies because governments have zero history of any competence in anything they do. And that failure rate goes up the longer those plans supposedly come to fruition as governments have zero long term vision beyond the next election. History is full of incidents of unexpected blowback from ill conceived plans and operations, and also full of people who were involved in them and who can’t shut up about them. Secret ops always come out, especially the more people that are involved in them. A scientist even came up with a formula that showed how much time would be involved before a conspiracy would get blown, depending on the number of people that are involved.

Occam’s Razor, always go for the most simple plausible solution. What is more simple and plausible? The west sponsoring Islamic terrorism in Syria and suffering blow back by accident, because this ideology knows no borders and Western politicians are both stupid and culturally ignorant when it comes to the Middle East and Islam, or what you’re proposing? And what’s even in it for the Americans to undermine Europe? A Europe that falls apart would be ripe for the plucking for the Russians. Divide and conquer serves the Russians far more then the Americans would.

But I reckon conspiracy theories are comforting. Bad shit that happens by sheer random accident tends to be way more scary to most people then bad shit that happens by intent. That’s why religions were invented. And now conspiracy theories.

It influences popular opinion, that then give the politicians the excuse to increase military spending.

See… Now here is someone who actually presents and sane and intelligent analysis of the situation. A lot of people don’t get that a lot of this jihadism, refugee crises, rise of radical Islamist groups worldwide… etc etc… is not actually part of some intentional grand imperialist zionist conspiracy on behalf of George Soros or the NWO or some other shit like that. It’s actually a result of short sighted, retarded, idealistic, and incompetent politicians who often serve corporate interests. It’s called blowback and failure, not “inside jobs” and “false flags”.

At best one might be able to argue that politicians and warhawks are opportunistic douchebags who use instability and terror acts as an excuse to drum up support for even more failed interventions, more military spending, and more “regime change” nonsense. which of course can lead to even more blowback and unintended consequences, which leads to even more failed policies, etc.

However, there’s no Mossad boogeyman directly instructing a jihadist how to shoot up a theater.

Props to you, Barba Papa. I’m sure you’re as repulsed as I am that many sane non interventionists often have a bunch of cooks within our midst.

The political arm of the MIC loves it when the sheeple chalk up the non-stop war-making to mere incompetence. That way nobody would ever expect it to stop , and you don’t hang someone for treason because they’re a blundering boob , at the worst you might give him a fat and happy early retirement , which he’ll supplement with highly-paid appearances on the Sunday talkies.

Occam’s Razor for D.C. reads thusly : ” Assume the most diabolical evil you can imagine , then double it. ”

The rulers are highly competent , they’ve been making good on their plans for decades. The average voter – the ruled – can’t find his own ass using two hands and a flashlight.

And South Front wonders why they have budget issues.

hamster

I know, right? This shit is OLD NEWS. this Defense Intelligence Document has been public for fucking years. How the fuck is this news?

I love SouthFront, and they do a good job in presenting the status and course of different conflicts, and the maps + analyses are excellent.

But the sometimes awful spelling/typos, the occasional fringe conspiracies (e.g. “US” helicopters “evacuating” ISIS fighters according to “observers”), and posting of old news like this is probably a major reason for why Southfront has trouble hitting budget every month.
