Syria Map Update: Military Situation In Northeastern Hama

Syrian government forces are pressuring Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) in the northeastern countryside of Hama city.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) have already liberated a number of villages east of the road heading to Abu Duhur Military Airbase from the southern direction. The ongoing advance has allowed the SAA and the NDF to boost a buffer zone along the Ithriyah-Khanaser-Aleppo highway, which is one of the key road used by government forces in central Syria.

If the SAA and the NDF are able to reach the road to Abu Duhur Military Airbase or event to take control of the airbase, this will be a significant blow to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and to undermine tha capabilities of the terrorist group to threaten the government supply line.

Wahhabi jihadist’s are just about done as in ISIS , and the Al Qaeda jihadists in Idlib are just a different brand . Syrian Sunnis , Shia and Christians are united in their rejection of this ideology .

There are some gatherings of SAA marines and other militants there. Maybe they are just tiping jihadi defences before a major push. I think in next months frontline will move to highway near airbase.

Man Dagang

You prefer iranian to conquer syria, old persian empire

I would prefer Persians to conquer all Arab nations.

Me too…when the Arab country was united in teh past no one wanted to fight against them… Unite today Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and maybe one – wto more and no one will again have a problem in Middle East

While this is happening, a little to the north many of the SDF/YPG fighters from Afrin that fought in Raqqah have now returned in Afrin with their medium to heavy weapons.

The defense of Afrin against a potential invasion from Turkey has now been much strengthened with these battle hardened fighters. Strategically this means that Assad has let them pass the SAA controlled entrance to Afrin. Likely they brought along reinforcements and extra supplies of ammo.
