South Ossetia Appointed Representatives in the DPR and the LPR

The President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov appointed the representatives of South Ossetia in Donetsk and Luhansk People`s Republics on May 26.

The representative offices were opened on the 16th of May 2015 for further development of relations in economic and humanitarian areas between South Ossetia and the LPR, between South Ossetia and the DPR.

“The President Leonid Tibilov has appointed the representatives of the Republic of South Ossetia in Donetsk and Luhansk People`s Republics. They are the citizens of South Ossetia, Taymuraz Gibizov and Soslan Karaev”, — press-secretary of a President Gana Yankovskaya said.

South Ossetia has recognized an independence of the Donetsk People`s Republic on the 27th of May 2014. Earlier this month, Tskhinval has recognized an independence of Luhansk People`s Republic.

In April 2015 the diplomatic representative offices of South Ossetia were opened in Donetsk and Luhansk. And in the same month the representative offices of the DPR and the LPR were opened in South Ossetia.

During the meetings in the beginning of April 2014 the citizens of Donetsk and Luhansk districts hadn’t recognized legitimacy of February`s coup and proclaimed the formation of «people`s republics». After referendum on May, the Republics proclaimed the sovereignty and have further formed the union «Novorossia» and government agencies. On November 2,  elections of the heads of republics and Parliament Members were held in the DPR and the LPR. Kiev doesn’t recognize the DPR and the LPR.
