On March 5, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force commissioned its first Soryu-class diesel-electric attack submarine (SSK) equipped with lithium-ion batteries. According to an official release the SSK JS Oryu (pennant number – SS 511) joined the Submarine Flotilla 1, based in Kure, Hiroshima prefecture. The submarine is the 11th SSK of the class to deploy with the Japanese navy and the sixth to be built by MHI.
The SSK JS Oryu is equipped with lithium-ion batteries, which would reportedly enable the submarine to shut off their diesel-electric propulsion and operate on battery power alone for notable periods under water. These batteries are less noisy than diesel-electric engines. So, they should allow to reduce the submarine’s acoustic signature making detection harder.
Competing with Russia, for the quietest submarines. You can easily figure where one of those subs will be patrolling?
Do the Japs usually carry out the orders of the ZOG?
Believe so.
I suppose when you’ve been nuked and had your nuclear reactors blown up then you tend to be more docile
Good point. Never understood why the US used atomic bombs on innocent civilians, when the war ended and Japan were surrendering?
Hmmm…. who’s fond of genocide I wonder
Madelaine Albright, so long as the focus is on babies and children, so comes to mind.
Probably a closet Frankist
Nothing in the closet about her.
Not quite enough….
Russian black hole subs are currently the best.
Japs better build Evangelions, much better in combat than the sub.
Not sure if I’d like to be underwater in a tube full of Lithium batteries.
Hehehe.
Russia and China should be building subs a break-neck speed. The US is threatening to fill leo with thousands of satillites.
They already do.
Aside from that Russia and China already have an orbital defense network.
Not impressed.
Lol! Why not? I’m always impressed when someone can produce a working submarine!!!
Slow, no supersonic weapons or supercavitating torpedos.
