Six Syrian soldiers were killed and two others were wounded as a result of the January 2 Israeli strikes on Syria which targeted the international airport of the capital, Damascus, according to a senior official of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“Between 2:00 a.m. and 2:06 a.m. on January 2, four Israeli F-16 fighters attacked defense facilities [at Damascus International Airport] from the Golan Heights without invading the Syrian airspace,” Major-General Oleg Yegorov, deputy head of the Russian Center For Reconciliation in Syria told reporters after the attack.

Initially, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency reported that only two soldiers were killed and two others were wounded as a result of the Israeli strikes.

New Satellite images of Damascus International Airport, which were released by Sentinel-2, showed seven impacts on the southern runway and a single one on the northern runway. Despite the heavy damage, the airport resumed operations a few hours after the attack.

The aerial attack came just two days after Benjamin Netanyahu, who is known for his strict stand against Syria and Iranian military presence there, assumed office as the new Prime Minister of Israel.

This was Israel’s first confirmed attack on Syria in 2023. Last year, the Israeli Defense Forces carried out at least 34 attacks on Syria in the framework of the “war between wars” campaign, which is meant to prevent Iran from entrenching itself in the war-torn country. The attacks claimed the lives of 34 people, including Syrian service members, fighters from Iranian-backed armed factions and civilians.

Israel has forgotten it’s past in Germany and has become no better than the NAZI’s and kills others unjustly.

The Anglo-Saxons, so smart, gave Israel a small land. A jet takes a few minutes to fly over it, it has no natural defense obstacles (mountains, rivers).

First strike and forward to the next 200 Israel strikes on Syria in 2023.
Come on Lavrov: “next time Israel do it, we will give Assad the S-300, if Israel do it again”.

Yes Lavrov you did it!
