Sinjar recaptured from ISIL

The leader of the Iraqi Kurdistan, Massud Barzani informed of the success of the operation against the Islamic State with the liberation of Sinjar on Friday.

The operation was held by the Iraqi autonomous Kurdish region’s Peshmerga militias, the Yazidi Resistance and it was backed by the US- led airstrikes.

According to reports, Kurdish Peshmerga found almost no opposition while entering Sinjar on Friday after a fierce fight happened on Thursday. Some pro-ISIS sources have claimed that the withdrawal of the jihadi militants from the town was voluntary and due to strategic reasons.

Sinjar was taken by the terrorists in August last year in a violent attack against Yazidi minority.
