At least seven fighters of Hezbollah and its close ally, the Amal Movement, were killed in recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon.

Citing Lebanese military sources, the Xinhua news agency reported on April 5 that two Hezbollah fighters were killed and a civilian was wounded in a strike on the town of Aita al-Shaab, while another Hezbollah fighter was killed and two civilians wounded in a strike on the town of Qana.

Three fighters from the Amal Movement were killed, and another was wounded in a strike targeting the town of Jeidet Marjeyoun, according to the agency.

The agency’s sources said that seven other people were also wounded in a strike that targeted a house in the town of Kfar Hamam, one of whom was a Lebanese service member.

Hezbollah and Amal acknowledged the losses reported by Xinhua. In addition, Hezbollah mourned another fighter early on April 6.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced late on April 5 that its fighter jets carried out a strike against a building belonging to the Amal Movement in Jeidet Marjeyoun, where operatives were gathered.

Earlier in the day, the IDF said that troops of the Golani Brigade spotted a Lebanese fighter using a drone to direct missile fire, and called in an airstrike against him. Fighter jets also hit other sites belonging to Hezbollah in the towns of Kafr Kila and Tayr Harfa as well as buildings used by the group in the towns of Mays al-Jabal and Blida, according to the IDF.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip last October, Hezbollah and its allies, including the Amal Movement, began launching near-daily attacks against the IDF in support of the Hamas Movement and other Palestinian armed factions in the enclave.

So far, the border clashes have resulted in eight civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least ten IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 400 people have been killed, including 253 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 70 civilians.
