The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) press center has officially denied reports about an ISIS withdrawal from the town of Tabqa and the nearby Tabqa dam in the province of Raqqah.

The official statement says that reports about the ISIS withdrawal are not true and added that clashes were still ongoing in northern Tabqa and in the nearby Tabqa dam.

Earlier today, reports appeared that ISIS members and their families were leaving Tabqa and the Tabqa dam via an open corridor.

Then reports appeared that the town of Tabqa and the dam were under a full control of the US-backed SDF. Thus, according to the SDF press center, reports about the liberation of Tabqa and the Tabqa dam are also not true.

What’s stopping ISIS from blowing the dam? Outrages don’t seem to be lost on them. There’s lots of important stuff downstream – like Iraq. And America and its coalition allies would have to help clean up the mess.

Maybe the problem is they will wash out themselves too.

A surge of several meters is expected if they blow the dam. The surge in the water level will destroy many of the defensive IS lines in Raqqah and they will inundate many of the tunnels they dug.

In the aftermath of a flood, it will be relatively easy to conquer Raqqah.

So, they will not.

What if the US blows it and blames it on SAA or Russia is that a possibility?

dutchnational

I am not an engineer, so I cannot tell. I do know it is a massive dam and the US does not control the dam either, at least not the better part of the dam.

So, I consider it unlikely but, technically, maybe possible.

Thegr8rambino

Yea that would flood their Isis buddies they wouldn’t want that lol

Jonathan Cohen

More likely to blame it on ISIS.

too difficult, it is not just a wall. The dam is built on rocks and boulders

EXCELLENT PHOTO! The first I’ve seen of YPJ women advancing abortion rights with heavy guns and not just small arms! I hope to see lot’s of YPJ tanks as I hear T-72 crews need to be small.
