Saudi-led Colaition Captures New Areas In Northern Yemen. Houthis Begin Defensive Operation (Videos)

On December 9, forces loyal to Saudi-backed President Hadi announced that its fighters captured the area of al-Nabishen east of the Albuqa region between the northern governorates of Saada and al-Jawf. The Saudi-led coalition also announced that it destroyed an ammo depot and killed 15 fighters of the Houthis in an airstrike on al-Jawf.

From its side, the Houthis announced that their fighters captured Tabat al-Khazan area and several positions around it in Mawaza district of Taiz governorate on Decembers 9. During the clashes Houthis fighters destroyed two vehicles of the Saudi-led coalition with ATGMs and captured one, according to the Yemeni al-Masirah TV.

In western Yemen, the UAE Army deployed a large force to support the ongoing attack of pro-Hadi forces, which is aimed at capturing the port of al-Hudaydah. The UAE force was seen with heavy weapons including AMX Leclerc tanks, G6 Rhino, M109 self-propelled howitzers and Agrab Mk 2 120mm Mobile Mortar Systems (MMS).

However, pro-Hadi forces and the UAE Army were not able to advance because of the strong resistance from the Houthis. According to al-Masirah, 5 armored vehicles, and 12 vehicles of pro-Hadi forces were destroyed by the Houthis on the coastal line south of al-Hudaydah on December 9.

The battles in northern and western Yemen will likely intensify in the upcoming days, as the Saudi-led coalition appears to be determined to capture the port of al-Hudaydah and to isolate the Houthis heartland, Sadaa governorate.

Nice ambush by Houthis, may God protect them in their fights.

You can call me Al

Whilst I agree fully, I am unsure how long he can protect them, after the rather conveniently timed assassination and its effects.

I don’t know if you have seen this. https://journal-neo.org/2017/12/10/as-the-war-in-yemen-spins-out-of-control-tehran-finds-itself-deprived-of-a-say/

Bob

Interesting article link – the ever increasing Israeli-Saudi alliance at work – targeted assassination is the tactical specialty of the Israeli’s.

John Whitehot

“targeted assassination is the tactical specialty of the Israeli’s”

Also the one mostly used by street thugs and mafia mobsters.

Graeme Rymill

Interesting article but totally misleading as it omits key facts

Bob

Which you completely fail to indicate any evidence of, or reason for..

Graeme Rymill

lol..like 90% of the Southfront comments…. so I am in good company.

Actually my reasons are in my two replies to You can call me Al.

Graeme Rymill

The NEO article claims that “highly influential former President of Yemen Abdullah Saleh was assassinated at one of his residences.”

The video and photographic evidence though is that is his car was ambushed in non-residential desert location. See: https://www.rt.com/news/411854-yemens-ex-president-saleh-killed/ According to RT the Houthis took responsibility.

Another odd thing about the NEO article is it totally fails to mention that Saleh had, two days before his death, announced that he was breaking his alliance with the Houthis and was considering reconciling with the Saudis. It also fails to mention that there had been 5 days of fighting prior to his death between his supporters and the Houthis with over 125 deaths reported.

You can call me Al

Your last paragraph was in a previous post.

Graeme Rymill

It is absolute dishonesty on the part of NEO article author to omit these key details. It is hard to imagine how it could possibly be a professional hit “hired by an external power” [ in other words Israel and/or Saudi Arabia] “to handle tricky affairs in a particular fashion.” It is clear from evidence elsewhere (including the RT article) that this was a Houthi ambush and there was a previous Houthi/Saleh crisis going back over several days to account for his killing.

Saleh wasn’t sniped in one of his residences, he was ambushed by Houthis while trying to escape by road.

Fine, hat’s the big issue of where. “My original point is that he was assassinated, nothing more, nothing less, with the exception of the extraordinary timing that rids the Houthis of a powerful ally.”

VGA

They Houthis and Saleh’s forces were clashing for a couple of days already. Before the Houthis finally got him.

There is no conspiracy here.

You can call me Al

Thank you.

With small dedicated group everything is possible always remember that. Imagine with large dedicated group what else can be achieved.

Skinny soldiers are efficient. Less food, more energy, less time doing non combat things. More time doing combat things. I’m sure they can survive on very little water and food therefore they carry less. Don’t need big vehicles which is a bigger target. Small foot soldiers are stealthy. Wait for their bigger enemies to stop food and camp and then attack. Awesome soldiers
