A secret missile base of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) located near the Iranian capital, Tehran, was seriously damaged as a result of a mysterious explosion, Israel’s ImageSat International revealed on September 30.
The company shared satellite images of the facility taken on September 27, shortly after the explosion. The images show serious damage at the facility, which allegedly belongs to the Shahid Hemmat Industrial Group.
The Iranian industrial group, which was sanctioned by the US in 2017, is reportedly involved in the development and manufacturing of ballistic missiles for the IRGC.

On September 26, The IRGC announced that two of its members were killed in an explosion at a “research self-sufficiency center” just outside Tehran.
The IRGC was likely referring to the Research and Self Sufficiency Jehad Organization. The IRGC’s organization was also sanctioned by the US in 2017 for developing and manufacturing ballistic missiles.
The deadly explosion may have been the result of an incident related to the development or manufacturing of missiles or other weapon systems. There is also a strong possibility that it was the result of a sabotage attack, specifically by the Israeli intelligence.
A series of suspected Israeli sabotage attacks targeted Iran this year. The largest attack of which targeted the Natanz fuel enrichment plant on April 11.
