The August 25 Israeli attack on Syria has inflicted heavy damage at a complex of the Scientific Studies and Research Center (SSRC) near the town of Masyaf in the western countryside of Hama.

Satellite images released by Plant Labs on August 26 revealed that many of the buildings at the complex were either completely destroyed or damaged as a result of the attack.

The Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria revealed that the SSRC complex was targeted with four cruise missiles and 16 guided bombs which were launched by two F-16 fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force from the Eastern Mediterranean. At least half of the munitions were intercepted by Syrian air defenses.

The attack on the complex led to a series of explosions and fires that wounded at least 14 civilians who live in nearby towns and villages.

The SSRC is Syria’s main military research and development body. The center is reportedly involved in the manufacturing of advanced weapons, including precision-guided missiles and drones. Maysaf complex and many other facilities of the SSRC were targeted by Israel on several occasions in the last few years.

This was one of Israel’s largest attacks on Syria this year. Tel Aviv is not only increasing its attacks on the war-torn country, but also widening their scale.

Israel’s repeated attacks on Syria are supposedly meant prevent Iran from establishing a lasting military presence in the country, as well as to stop weapons shipments to Hezbollah. None of these objectives have been achieved, so far.
