The so-called Syrian ‘moderate’ opposition, swallowed by armed extremists, has ceased to exist on the territory of the country, Russian ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, told the UN General Assembly (UNGA), which passed a non-binding resolution, demanding the cessation of hostilities in Syria.

The document, for which 122 people voted, calls for a “complete end to all attacks on civilians,” as well as “rapid, safe, sustained, unhindered and unconditional humanitarian access” throughout Syria.

Though, the resolution has only political weight, Washington decided to use this opportunity in order to bash both Moscow and Damascus for the ongoing military operation aimed to make away with extremists in Aleppo and save lives of thousands of Syrian civilians, living under their control.

“This is a vote to stand up and tell Russia and Assad to stop the carnage,” US Ambassador Samantha Power said. “This is a vote to defend the bedrock principles of how states should act, even in war.”

Meanwhile, Churkin explained that the Canadian resolution contained “serious flaws,” making it “impossible” for Russia to support it.

“The causes of the conflict’s genesis and evolution have been misidentified. The blame is mostly pinned on the authorities of the country. The terrorist threat and the role of foreign sponsors in perpetuating and augmenting it are outlined only in broad strokes,” the Russian ambassador said.

He also noted that “condemnations will not help to reach a specified goal” in Syria, pointing out “aggressive form of colonialism,” pursued by countries, which supported the so-called ‘moderate’ opposition.

“It is a result of the mindless foreign policy of several international and regional players, who once decided to change the leadership in Damascus and to redraw drastically the political, ethnic, confessional, and economic map of the region,” Churkin said.

At the same time, he also pointed out that despite having “extensive financial, logistical, and propaganda support” from foreign countries, “the elusive concept of ‘moderate Syrian opposition‘ has effectively failed.”

According to Churkin, Russia makes “enormous efforts” in order to help to stop the war, as well as to aid with a transition to direct UN-sponsored settlement negotiations. The Russian ambassador also added that accusations that Moscow impedes progress in the settlement of the Syrian conflict at the UN Security Council just “distort reality.”

Answering the “aggressive rhetoric” of the US Ambassador, Churkin also criticized “disastrous policies” of Washington in Syria, Iraq and Libya, saying that “rather than spreading propaganda cliches on Aleppo, the United States delegation should better address what is happening under the American leadership around Mosul, what happened under the leadership of the United States in Fallujah.”

sadly, what Churkin calls “mindless” is not mindless at all. These people does not actually give a damn about how many innocents have to suffer and die, in order to achieve their global domination plans. They are showing it at every possible occasion, it’s an abomination that has all the similarities with the worst devices the human race ever produced, like german national-socialism.

Russia must be just as aggressive in speech to push back this false narrative of the West. Spell it out, you (name the primary countries) are purposefully arming terrorists, show footage of the liberated areas with the celebrating citiizens, etc. Stop being so timid in defending your actions. Put all the blame on them supported by facts that can not be denied.

why do they do not call out Obama, NATO, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey?
