The Federal Service of Troops of National Guard of the Russian Federation, officially known as the Rosgvardiya, has been equipped with modern heavy weapons.

The weapons made their debut during a live-fire exercise, which was announced by the guards on September 11. The exercise was held in the Ryazan region. It was attended by Rosgvardiya Direction Hero of Russia Viktor Zolotov.

“During the exercise, the National Guard troops practiced tactical techniques, methods, and ways of conducting combat operations and eliminating enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, taking into account the experience of the special military operation,” the Rosgvardiya said in a statement.

The guard’s statement also noted that “modern equipment samples for countering enemy UAVs [Unmanned Aerial Vehicles] and for delivering precise strikes in response to possible militant raids” were tested during the exercise.

“Special attention was paid to destroying enemy armored vehicles at long approaches with new fire weapons in service with the National Guard, including the use of the ‘Malva’ self-propelled artillery system,” it added.

The Malva is based on the BAZ-6010-027 8×8 special wheeled chassis, giving it better mobility than tracked self-propelled howitzers. It is armed with a 152 mm 2A64 cannon, with a 30 rounds ammunition storage. It has an effective range of 24.5 kilometers, a gun elevation of +70°, depression of -3° and azimuth of ± 30°.

In addition, the howitzer can fire Krasnopol laser-guided artillery rounds, which have a range between 20 and over 40 kilometers.

Footage released by the Rosgvardiya also showed what appears to be T-72B3M obr.2024, a deeply upgraded version of the Soviet-made T-72 with new gun, engine, explosive reactive armor set, and day\night capable targeting system. The obr.2024 copy in particular provides enhanced protection against drones. It is equipped with an additional cage armor, protecting the sides and roof of the tank.

Interestingly, the footage also shows what appears to be Spartan infantry mobility vehicles, a model developed by the United Arab Emirates’s STREIT Group.

It is highly-unlikely that the vehicles were supplied by the UAE. The most realistic scenario is that these vehicles were captured from Kiev forces, which operate a copy manufactured in Ukraine by AutoKraz, then handed over to Rosgvardiya after being refurbished and upgraded with cage armors. It has been also reported that these new vehicles can be used as carriers for 82 mm mortars.

The Rosgvardiya is mainly responsible for law enforcement, internal security, counter-sabotage, counter-terrorism and riot control.

In 2018, the guard consisted of approximately 340,000 personnel in 84 units across Russia. It reportedly includes the forces of the former Internal Troops of Russia, SOBR, OMON, and other internal military forces outside of the Russian Armed Forces.

Following the start of the special military operation in Ukraine more than three years ago, the Rosgvardiya expanded its operations and received more heavy weapons as it began to play a bigger role in securing the border of Russia from Ukrainian infiltration attempts. The latest additions to the guard’s arsenal will allow it to move faster, and hit back harder along the border and beyond.

criminals continue to escape punishment after the horrific crime they committed against an orphan girl from the alawite sect. she was riding a bicycle to work from her village of hawarat amurin toward the city of salhab. three armed men intercepted her in broad daylight, stripped her of her clothes, and raped her, leaving her in a deplorable state. a number of bedouin residents encountered her in the area and rushed to help her by dressing her and contacting her family to return her home

despite the horror of the crime, the syrian authorities have taken no action to pursue or hold the perpetrators accountable. this raises serious questions about the reasons for this official silence and failure to fulfill their minimum duties toward the victim and her family. the syrian observatory for human rights condemns this incident in the strongest terms, considering it a heinous crime that adds to the record of grave violations against women in syria

it calls on the syrian authorities to take immediate action to prosecute the criminals and bring them to justice, and to end the policy of silence and disregard that encourages the recurrence of such crimes.

homs governorate: the syrian observatory for human rights obtained photos of the body of a young christian man from the village of kafra in the wadi al-nasara area. he died 15 days after being detained in al-balouneh prison in homs. the photos showed signs of torture and bruises on his body, clearly indicating that he had been subjected to physical assault prior to his death.

this comes after security forces informed the victim’s family that the cause of death was a heart attack a few days earlier. sources close to the young man confirmed that he was killed under torture.
the young man was arrested on august 25 on the pretext of a “food supply violation.” during his detention, he was subjected to severe torture and forced to make false confessions, according to family sources. security forces initially denied holding him before suddenly announcing his death

sources close to the victim reported yesterday that the syrian authorities refused to hand over the body to his family and forced the victim’s family to sign paperwork to receive the body without allowing them to open the coffin or conduct any funeral ceremonies, amid tight security around burial procedures
