On September 30, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed the full control of the village of Nelepovka located between the previously liberated Novgorodskoe (former Ukrainian name: New York) and Toretsk (Russian name: Dzerzhinsk) in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
After the Russian army secured control of the settlements in the Toretsk urban agglomeration and straightened the flanks, the assault on the city began. Battles reached the city in late August, 2024. Since then, Russian troops have significantly expanded their zone of control.
According to the latest reports from the battlefield, Russian forces gained a foothold west of Heroyiv Pratsi street. Clashes continue in the city center along Druzhby street.
Russian forces continue their assault operations, fighting for every house and apartment building. The Armed Forces of Ukraine attempt counterattacks with the support of armored vehicles.
The advancing Russian units are aimed at expanding their zone of control in the city and create a bridgehead for further offensive in the northern and western directions. Thus, they create tactically favorable conditions for the storming of Ukrainian stronghold deployed on the territory of the Tsentralnaya mine.
