The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) have resumed airstrikes in Syrian Idlib after they punished ISIS terrorists in Central Syria.

Early in the morning on October 19th, Russian warplanes carried out airstrikes in the town of al-Barah in Idlib governorate. According to local report, at least 3 strikes have targeted militants’ infrastructure in southern Idlib.

At the same time, the artillery of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) hit militants’ positions in the same area.

On October 16th, another wave of SAA artillery strikes hit the area near the town of al-Barah.

The artillery and air strikes hit the south-eastern outskirts of al-Barah. The town hosts a Turkish military post that was reinforced in late September amid reports of upcoming SAA ground operation.

The VKS resumed the support for the SAA in southern Idlib after Russian warplanes were busy targeting ISIS hideouts in Central Syria.

On October 15th, ISIS terrorists launched a large-scale operation on SAA’s positions located around the town of Resafa in the southern countryside of Raqqa. As a result, 8 Syrian soldiers were reportedly killed.

With close air support from the VKS, the SAA managed to recapture all the positions it lost during the attack. Russian warplanes carried out more than 40 airstrikes on the terrorists who took part in the attack.

They also continue targeting ISIS hideouts on a regular basis.

Thus, on October 19th, the VKS carried out airstrikes on the positions of ISIS terrorists in the desert area of Jabal al-Beshri in the east of Raqqa province.
