On October 19, the British military staged new provocation in the Black Sea region. Three aircraft of the British Air Force approached the Russian border over the Black Sea.
The Russian Ministry of defence reported that a pair of Russian Su-27 fighters from the air defense forces on duty were raised to meet three air targets approaching the border over the Black Sea. The targets turned out to be an RC-135 reconnaissance and electronic warfare aircraft and two multi-purpose Typhoon fighters of the British Air Force.
“When approaching Russian fighters, foreign military aircraft performed a U-turn from the state border without violating it.”
The Russian Ministry stressed that the Su-27 complied with the rules for the use of airspace over neutral waters, without crossing air routes and no dangerous approach with foreign aircraft.
A similar incident over the Black Sea took place on October 15. Then, a Global Hawk reconnaissance drone of the US Air Force was forced to tun away fom the Russian State border by another fighter lifted into the air. LINK These are far from the first provocations in the Black Sea region committed by NATO member states. In March, the American Reaper UAV crashed in the Black Sea when approaching the Russian border. The repeated provocations by the NATO aircraft are leading to the dangerous escalation in the Black Sea.
