The Russian Aerospace Forces have carried out cruise missile strikes on ISIS and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian al-Qaeda branch) targets in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on November 17.

The strategic missile carriers’ route lied above the water areas of the north seas and Eastern Atlantic where they launched missile strikes on terrorsit targets. After the strikes, Russian strategic bombers returned to the airport of location.

Russian strategic bombers flew 11,000 km with two refuels to deliver missile strike on the terrorists.

The missiles hit terrorist command posts, weapons, ammunition depots and various military equipment. The results of the strikes were overseen by unmanned aerial vehicles.

Russian warplanes based at Hmeimim airbase and Su-33 fighter jets from Admiral Kuznetsov heavy aircraft-carrying missile cruiser also took part in the strikes.

The Russian Defense Ministry also released a footage of missile strikes by Tu-95MS strategic bombers:
