Russian Satellite Imagery Helps the Syrian Army Progress in Palmyra: Tal SyriaTel Captured

A fact that Russian military advicers work in Syria is confirmed by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. It isn’t clear how much Russian military servicemen are involved in the conflict. All what we know from Zakharova:

“There are also Russian military advisers in Syria who provide training in the use of the arriving equipment”

Apparently, it in’t enough to build an entire gamut of the situation amid Russia busts its support to the Assad government and publicly talking about a possibility of the direct military support.

The SouthFront, Analysis & Intelligence team doesn’t support versions of Western media/think tanks arguing that Russia started or will start a full-scale ground operation in Syria.

However it’s clear that Russian military advicers could become more and more involved in the ongoing conflict. So, we can’t ignore repots about such activity. The article below is a kind of these reports.

The Russian military advisors in Syria have worked wonders for the Syrian Armed Forces, as they have provided exclusive intel to the commanding officers operating on the battlefield.

With access to satellite imagery via their Russian military advisors, the Syrian Armed Forces capitalized on the exclusive information provided to them by intensifying their large-scale assault on the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur).

On Sunday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 67th Brigade of the 18th Tank Division – in coordination with Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade) and Hezbollah – attacked the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) at the imperative hilltop of Tal SyriaTel, killing over 20 enemy combatants, while also destroying 4 armored vehicles that were mounted with 23mm anti-aircraft machine guns.

Following a long and violent engagement, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance took full control of Tal SyriaTel after the terrorist group was unable to maintain their ground near the Qassoun Mountains.

According to a military source in east Homs, the recent bombing campaign in Palmyra was extremely effective, thanks in large part to the satellite imagery provided to the Syrian Air Force from their Russian military advisors.

The source further added that the Syrian Armed Forces are closer to Palmyra’s city walls than the previous three months; if recaptured, the Syrian Armed Forces could continue to push east in order to reopen the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor Highway.
