A video and photos, showing Russian sappers, departing from Moscow region to the Syrian city of Aleppo, in order to conduct a mine-clearing operation in the eastern districts of the city, liberated from militants, were published online by the Russian Defense Ministry on Friday.
The clearing detachment of the International Mine Action Centre of the Russia Armed Forces is fully autonomous and equipped with the most modern sets of mine clearing and protection, including the IMP-2S selective portable induction mine detectors, portable detectors of wire circuits of control of explosive devices (PIPL), the INVU-3M portable detectors of non-contact explosive devices and the OVR-2 multi-service sets of mine clearing, as well as with the most advanced survival kits (self-contained power-supply apparatuses, field kitchens, tents for military personnel).
In addition to a combat engineer element, the detachment also includes a K9 unit with dogs, trained to search mines.
Earlier russian military servicemen defused almost 18,000 explosive devices and cleared 825 hectares in the Syrian Arab Republic.
