The Russian army is successfully developing its offensive in the Kharkiv region. As a result of only five days of operations across the border, the Russian military managed to take control of 13 settlements and secure the zone of its control of about 250 square kilometers. Russian forces took control of several dominant heights in the area and large Ukrainian grouping came under the Russian fire control.
While Russian assault troops are advancing towards Liptsy in one direction and the battle for Vovchansk is waging in another, Russian forces captured new border areas between the two settlements. Clashes are ongoing near Neskuchnoe village. As a result of the recent advance, the two groups of Russian forces united in a single strike force and the Russian army is now developing offensive on the wide front af about 60 kilometers.
The Ukrainian military fails to gain a foothold and stop Russian offensive in the Liptsy direction. On May 14, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that Ukrainian forces withdrew from their military positions near the village of Lukyantsi in the Kharkiv region to save the military personnel.
Russian flag is also waving in the village of Glybokoe located nearby. The footage confirming the Russian control of the settlement was shared on May 14. Battles are ongoing in the residential area near the eastern shore of the Travyanskoe water reservoir on the outskirts of Liptsy.

The town of Liptsy is turning into the main Ukrainian stronghold in the area, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are retreating. Control of the buildings near the water reservoir will allow the Russian military to launch the assault on Liptsy.

To the east, heavy battle for the town of Vovchansk is ongoing. In its daily briefing on May 14, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed the full Russian control of the village of Bugrovatka located to the west of Vovchansk. The mop up operation is ongoing in Staritsa nearby. The village of Bugratovka is located 7 km southwest of the railway station Vovchansk, which is one of Ukrainian stronghold in the town.
The new victory secures the encirclement of the town of Vovchansk from the western direction, while Russian assault groups are already repelling Ukrainian servicemen from their hideout in the town, rapidly advancing on the streets from the north.
The northern part of the city has completely come under the Russian control and the western part is being moped up. According to the latest reports from the front, Russian forces took control of the local lyceum and kindergarten, where the AFU attempted to hold defense. Fierce fighting broke out in the area of the city park near the church.
Russian forces are in control of almost the entire northern half of the town, pushing the AFU across the Volchya River. The destruction of the bridges across the River on Privokzalnaya and Gagarin Streets by Russian precision strikes heavily complicates Ukrainian retreat. Ukrainian forces only have two bridges left for their manoeuvres, near the Volchansk hospital on Shevchenko Street and on Sobornaya Street.
The Ukrainian army attempts to resist, transferring reserves to the southern outskirts of Vovchansk. So far, to no avail.
The border areas in the Kharkiv region are defended by various Ukrainian military formations, including professional fighters of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Nazis from Kraken battalion, and militants of the media unit of the Russian Volunteers Corps. A lot of Ukrainian militants were taken prisoners. However, their forces are not enough to stop Russian offensive and the Ukrainian military command is transferring units from other directions, weakening defense along the entire front, in an attempt to hold defense in Kharkiv.
