The night of August 4 was marked by another Russian combined attack in Ukrainian rear regions. Russian drones and missiles targeted Ukrainian military and industrial facilities. The scale of the attack was not that great, but the Ukrainian military officials were forced to admit the damage.

According to the General Staff of Ukraine, the air defense forces managed to shot down five Russian UAVs of the Geran type. However, they confirmed that Ukrainian forces failed to intercept two Kh-59 missiles. Unofficial Ukrainian military monitoring sources denied claims of the Kyiv military officials, claiming that more Russian drones and missiles reached their targets in different regions.

According to local reports, Russian missiles that managed to pass through Ukrainian and NATO air defense systems struck targets in the Poltava region. As a result of the attack, some railway infrastructure was reportedly damaged. The success of Russian strikes was confirmed by the delay of trains from the eastern direction.

Another Russian strike was reported in the area of the Mirgorod airfield in the same Poltava region. The strikes in the area of the airfield were confirmed by local authorities but they did not reveal the results. The airfield infrastructure reportedly came under Russian drone attack.

The Russian military continues devastating strikes on Ukrainian rear airfields throughout the country. Another target of the night attacks was the Chuguev military airfield located in the eastern Kharkiv region. According to preliminary reports, at least four Russian missiles struck the area. As a result of the attack, a military warehouse with ammunition and equipment was destroyed. Another point of temporary deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also reportedly destroyed in the area.

The ongoing Russian precision strikes are complicating the work of the remaining Ukrainian Air Force aircraft, including those that have been upgraded to launch Western missiles. Constant devastating strikes on rear airfields also complicate the deployment of F-16 fighter jets from NATO, while no one else believes that they can become a game changer in Ukraine.
