The Russian Ministry of Defense released on June 7 first footage from the ongoing joint military exercise with the Syrian Arab Army.
In a brief statement, the ministry said that Russian and Syrian warplanes practiced joint actions in the airspace over Syria in the framework of the exercise.
“Russian and Syrian pilots patrolled the air borders in the east and southern part of the country,” the ministry said. “In addition, aircraft from the two countries trained launching individual and group airstrikes at targets at one of the training grounds in the Syrian desert.”
Su-35 fighter jets and Su-34 bombers from the Russian Aerospace Forces as well as Su-24 front-line bombers from the Syrian Arab Air Force took part in the practice patrols.
Other photos that surfaced online showed Russian and Syrian troops training on defending against terrorist attacks, conducting patrols and the use of man-portable air defense systems and drone jammers.
The joint exercise was launched on June 5 with the aim of practicing defending Syria’s “territorial integrity”. The Russian MoD said that the exercise will cover the country’s airspace, some of its territory and the eastern section of the Mediterranean Sea.
Russia maintains a large military presence in Syria, with its forces deployed in an air base and a naval base on the coast in addition to dozens of smaller posts across the country.
The joint exercise comes amid high tensions in the Middle East over the ongoing Israeli war on the Palestinian enclave of the Gaza Strip. The war sparked clashes on the Israeli-Lebanese border and led to an increase in Israeli strikes on Syrian territory.

nice, now kick the usa out from the syrian oilfields. btw we still have to liberate kosovo!
lol. as if russia is worried about syrias territoial integrity.
they haven’t been so far.
russia is just playing the same zionist game in syria.
russia has agreed to quietly let iran and israel settle scores in syria. they can change that policy depending on what israel does
except that israel is using the pretext of syria’s alliance with iran as a reason to attack any part of syria it wishes to, whether or not there is any ‘iranian connection’. this is all about territory and control.
meanwhile murika has north syrian oil fields and agriculture in safe keeping in preparation for israel’s upcoming occupation of much of syria.
syria will become palestine mk2 unless rus wakes up. or maybe ptn agrees with the plan?
amerikans are untenable in syria. they are surrounded on all sides. logistic supply lines will bcome difficult when iraq kicks them out. if turkye leaves nato its over. i think its a waiting game for now until the situation changes. and it will ultimately chaneg in favor of the resistance because this is their home.
‘if turkye leaves nato..’
turkiye will not leave nato until there’s a better deal on the table, giving it the same perks that nato does. besides, erdogan will play both ends against the middle, and keep a foot in all camps. turkiye is more likely to be the route nato infiltrates brics.
the usa owns the m.e, which in turn is surrounded by still more usa bases and proxies. n. syria is effectively in murika’s back yard – unfortunately – and iraq can’t change this atm.
i think you over estimate the western power in the middle east. turkiye is building up indigenous defense capability. once it thinks it has its own industry strong enough, it will leave nato. it could happen sooner, depending on how the war in ukraine unravels
trkiye (ie erdgn) craves power by any means, no matter who or what it has to deal with. maybe strong on paper, it will remain c*rrupt and c*rruptable.
it’s the same throughout the m e. murika’s ‘soft power’ roots run deep through govts, leaders, banks, corps, ngos, militaries, terror groups, individuals etc. these ‘greenback tendrils’ took decades to establish, and can’t be eradicated with just tnt weedkiller.
arguably only the h*uthis and the t*liban understand the west’s psyche – and its achilles heel. were they in charge of rus or prc, (or even irn or trkiye) then i suspect murika/nato would have backed off long ago in their ongoing colonial wars.
the only thing the west understands is force and unwavering opposition – but this must be consistently manifested at every level and in every way with no compromise or deals.
netreba spoločne cvičiť, ale treba spoločne vyhnať okupantov z darebáckeho štátu usa zo sýrie. následne treba vyhnať žida z golanských výšin!!! to by bolo spoločné cvičenie, ktoré by malo zmysel!!! svetu mier!!!
