The Russian military’s Sever (North) Group of Forces inflicted heavy losses on Kiev forces in the Kursk direction, neutralizing some 150 troops in the last 24 hours, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on November 21.
In its daily briefing, the ministry said that Ukraine’s 41st, 47th, 115th mechanized brigades, 5th and 17th tank brigades, the 82nd Air Assault Brigade, the 36th Marine Brigade, 112th, 117th and 129th territorial defense brigades took losses near the settlements of Aleksandriya, Viktorovka, Daryino, Lebedevka, Leonidovka, Malaya Loknya, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, and Sverdlikovo.
Heavy Russian air and artillery strikes also targeted Ukranian troops and equipment in several areas, according to the ministry.
The strikes took place near the settlements of Agronom, Aleksandriya, Bogdanovka, Kruglenkoye, Kurilovka, Lebedevka, Leonidovo, Martynovka, Malaya Loknya, Melovy, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevka, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, Plyokhovo, Sverdlikovo, Staraya Sorochina, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye in Kursk as well as close to the settlements of Basovka, Belovody, Zhuravka, Obody, and Yunakovka in the neighboring Ukrainian region of Sumy.
“The AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses were over 150 troops over the past 24 hours. Five AFU servicemen surrendered,” the ministry said.
In addition, videos posted to social networks showed some of the losses Kiev forces took in Kursk and Sumy in the last few days.
The Ukrainian formations that invaded Kursk last October with help from foreign mercenaries and using Western-made weapons appear to be nearing complete collapse. The Russian military, which has already liberated half of the occupied territories in the region, is reportedly preparing a large-scale offensive.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 34,540 troops, 215 tanks, 147 infantry fighting vehicles, 120 armored personnel carriers, 1,190 armored fighting vehicles, 988 motor vehicles, 296 artillery guns, 40 launchers, including 11 American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, 13 air defense systems, seven transport-loading vehicles, 68 electronic warfare stations, 13 counter-battery radars, four aerial radars, 27 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, six armored recovery vehicle, and one command post vehicle.
