Russian MoD Details Ukrainian Losses Over Past Week

Russian MoD Details Ukrainian Losses Over Past WeekThe Russian Ministry of Defenses has provided a detailed summary of Ukrainian losses across the frontline over the past week.

According to the ministry, between 25 August and 1 September, the Russian military launched five waves of strikes with sea and air-launched precision-guided weapons against command posts, electronic reconnaissance centers, port infrastructure, western weaponry and ammunition depots, as well as air bases in Ukraine.

“The strikes disrupted the strategic radio interference control system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), wiped out workshops of unnamed surface vehicles used by the Kiev regime to launch terrorist attacks, air defense systems, multiple rocket launchers, hardware, as well as Western-made air-launched weapons,” the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also revealed that the combat situation was very tense and complicated in the Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions over the past week.

In the Zaporozhye direction, Kiev forces launched 44 attacks against Russian military positions to no avail. Kiev deployed one of last strategic reserve units, the 71st Jaeger Brigade, to boost its operations in this direction, the ministry said, noting that despite this all attacks were repelled by the Zaporozhye Group of Forces.

The ministry said that more than 960 Ukrainian troops, 24 armored fighting vehicles, 28 motor vehicles and 45 field artillery guns were neutralized in Zaporozhye over the past week.

“Severe AFU manpower losses in the course of the so-called counteroffensive were caused by the effective strikes of Russian forces against Ukrainian armored hardware at a distance,” the ministry said. “AFU formation command purposefully throws manpower in assaults as cannon fodder to cross Russian Forces minefields on foot with no fire support.”

Meanwhile in the South Donetsk direction, the ministry said that the most intensive battles took place south of Staromayorskoye.

“The professional, cohesive command and control actions of the Russian troops with support of aviation and artillery thwarted the enemy’s offensive plans,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the Vostok Group of Forces managed to repel all Ukrainian attacks in this direction over the past week. As a result, Kiev forces lost 1,025 troops, 13 armored fighting vehicles, 26 motor vehicles and 26 field artillery guns.

In the Donetsk direction, the Ukrainian Soledar Group of Troops made many attempts to break through Russian defenses near Klescheevka and Maloilyinovka. However, they were all foiled by Russian forces, according to the ministry.

“During the week, Russian Forces repelled 36 attacks in which the enemy had lost up to 2,385 Ukrainian troops, 30 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 75 motor vehicles and 21 field artillery guns,” the ministry said.

And in the Kupyansk direction, the Zapad Group of Forces improved the tactical situation by seizing enemy strongholds and key heights. The ministry noted that Kiev forces sustained heavy losses in this direction.

“Over the past week, the enemy has suffered losses of up to 470 Ukrainian troops, 22 armored fighting vehicles, 21 motor vehicles as well as 18 field artillery guns,” the ministry said.

In the Krasny Liman direction, the Tsentr Group of Forces repelled 14 attacks by Kiev forces over the past week. According to the ministry, Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 540 troops, 22 armored fighting vehicles, 13 motor vehicles and 10 field artillery guns.

Meanwhile in Kherson direction, the main goal of Russian troops was to deliver strikes at Ukrainian manpower, engage in counterbattery warfare, eliminate sabotage and reconnaissance groups and impede enemy amphibious assaults on islands.

According to information the ministry obtained from prisoners of war from the 123rd Territorial Defence Brigade, the majority of Ukrainian troops waive to cross the Dnieper River as they are afraid of inevitable death from Russian strikes. In this direction, Kiev forces lost up to 230 troops, 31 motor vehicles as well as 19 field artillery guns over the past week.

The ministry also provides some information on the recent operation by the Black Sea Fleet, which monitors the situation round the clock in its areas of responsibility.

Between August 29 and 30, the aviation of the fleet managed to foil several attempts by Ukrainian special forces to land on the Crimean coast to launch “terrorist attacks.” Four boats and up to 50 troops were neutralized by air strikes.

The Russian MoD also provided the following details in its statement:

Russian Aerospace Forces fighter jets and air defense units have shot down four Ukrainian Air Force aircraft and one helicopter over the past week.

Air defense and electronic warfare systems have downed 35 HIMARS MLRS shells, six JDAM guided bombs, five U.S.-made HARM anti-radiation missiles, as well as one Neptune anti-ship cruise missile, and one S-200 missile converted into a strike version over the past week.

In addition, 281 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, including Tu-141 Strizh drone, as well as 29 fixed-wing drones were shot down in western regions of the Russian Federation.

In total, 466 airplanes and 247 helicopters, 6,293 unmanned aerial vehicles, 434 anti-aircraft missile systems, 11,587 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,147 combat vehicles equipped with multiple launch rocket systems, 6,162 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,602 units of special military hardware have been destroyed during the special military operation.

It’s worth noting that Ukraine launched its counteroffensive more than eleven weeks ago. So far, Kiev forces have captured no more than a few villages in the Donetsk, South Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions. These small gains came at a heavy human and material cost.

While it is clear that the counteroffensive is failing, the Kiev regime will not likely halt it any time soon. Kiev’s decision to go on with the counteroffensive is likely meant to appease NATO and other backers who reportedly provided more than $200 billion in military aid.
