A pinpoint missile strike destroyed high-value military equipment of Kiev forces in the Sumy region, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on August 29.

The equipment, which were hidden in several warehouses near the settlement of Postolnoye, were first discovered by a reconnaissance drone, the ministry said in a statement, adding that the equipment were then quickly targeted with Iskander-M tactical ballistic missiles.

According to the ministry, the strike destroyed a German-made COBRA counter-battery radar station, one Soviet-made BM-27 Uragan rocket launcher, one Soviet-made BM-21 Grad rocket launcher, one rocket transporter loader, seven armored fighting vehicles, two trailers and three pickup trucks.

A video showing the successful Iskander-M strike was released by the ministry. Two other videos of the strike were posted to social networks.

The Iskander-M has a range of nearly 500 kilometers. It can be armed with different conventional warheads, including a cluster munitions warhead, a fuel–air explosive enhanced-blast warhead, a high-explosive fragmentation warhead, an earth penetrator for bunker busting and an electromagnetic pulse device for anti-radar missions.

The highly-maneuverable missile is guided by a GLONASS-aided inertial navigation system. It can be also equipped with an optical seeker with a digitized scene-mapping area correlator system for terminal guidance.

Kiev forces backed by foreign mercenaries launched earlier this month a surprise attack from Sumy into the neighboring Russian region of Kursk.

The Russian military halted the attack within a few days and has since inflicted heavy losses on Kiev forces. According to the latest briefing by the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ukraine has lost two counter-battery radars and 15 multiple rocket launchers.
