Russian Missiles Fly Over Western Ukraine While Kiev Prepares Counterattack In The South

Russian Missiles Fly Over Western Ukraine While Kiev Prepares Counterattack In The South

Illustrative Image

On July 25th, the Russian Ministry of Defence revealed targets of Russian missile strikes in Ukraine.

In Western Ukraine, Russian missiles struck a transshipment base, destroying US-supplied ammunition for HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems and shells for US M777 large-calibre howitzers. The attack was carried out near the town of Bogdanovtsy in the Khmelnitskyi region.

On the eve, Russian Kalibr missiles were filmed during the launch from the Black sea area:

Another target for Russian missiles was a temporary deployment point of 95th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the village of Kostantinovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. As a result of the attack, over 100 Ukrainian servicemen and foreign mercenaries were destroyed.

On the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that an attempt of Ukrainian sabotage group to advance and land from fast landing boats on the territory of thr Kherson Region was thwarted in Dneprovsky estuary. Two Ukrainian landing boats with saboteurs on board were destroyed as a result of Russian strike.

The Ukrainian military command is preparing for a large counter-offensive operation against Russian forces in the Kherson region. According to unconfirmed reports, the counterattack was planned for August and will be timed to coincide with the Independence Day of Ukraine (on August 24th).

The AFU are escalating the situation in Southern Ukraine, launching counter-attacks along the front lines, instigating saboteurs to kill local officials, shelling civilian facilities to threaten the locals and targeting strategic infrastructure to deprive the Russian military from transfering reinforcement to the front lines.

The military preparations are accompanied by loud political claims and declarations of the upcoming operations. The official announcement of any military operations on the southern front lines results in military losses as the Russian side has already increased missile attacks on the AFU military facilities in the Nikolaev and Odessa regions. On the other hand, such a media campaign is aimed at changing public opinion in the West and create a new impetus for international support for Ukraine.

Even despite losses on the battlefields, the Kiev’s ability to declare any offensive operations may increase financial and military assistance to the Kiev regime and overcome Western fatigue from the war in Ukraine.

In turn, the Russian side is reinforcing the air defence forces in the Kherson region. So far, it is not clear if Russia has enough forces to protect and save control of the territories in southern Ukraine.

Why shouldn’t Russia have enough forces to defend the south? Every bigger counterattack will run into a meatgrinder of artillery, airstrikes, missiles and what else Russia has plenty of.
Strange article.

We have not heard about that in the whole Wild West.

If the Russians are saying they don’t have enough forces to defend the south you can bet it’s to lure the Ukrainians into believing the Russians don’t have enough forces to defend the south. Two weeks ago there were posts on telegram about lots of Grads, tube arty, Buk’s and SU-25’s crossing into Crimea.

Cromwell

There is also the new Chechen battalion deployed in the area.

jens holm

I dont think so. If true its second or third class. It might be some of the few left veterans of theirs.

They hardly exist anymore or are alive but wounded.

you don’t think at all……. don’t even try, you are too stupid.

HB_Norica

There are 1.3 million people in Chechnya. Half of them male which makes 650,000. Half of them are military age which is 350,000. Half again are likely in jobs or commitments which leaves 175,000 and all of them have at least one year of military service so they know how to hold a gun and march. A Russian BTG is about 1000 men so that makes 175 potential BTG’s. Russia has 21 million trained reservists of military age btw.

Mountain Madness

Chechens are born to fight.

Robert

Lure? As source of military intelligence? You’re sick

HB_Norica

The Russians are famous for military deception. We didn’t learn half of what the Russians got up to in WW2 until the archives began to open up in the mid 1990’s. Our history of WW2 in the east was written by the Germans and they were fooled so badly that we still don’t have a clear picture as to what actually happened as opposed to what the Germans thought was happening. And yes the Russians are very capable of baiting the Ukrainians into a trap in Kherson and they’re capable of hiding their forces from NATO satellites and surveillance aircraft as well as spoofing signals intelligence. If you think they are above moving a trainload of empty boxes and putting some pyrotechnics in place to bait HIMARS that’s right up their alley.

Name

Hope so. But you can’t hide armies from a mass of American intelligence. How hiding tanks and heavy machinery? I am sure the US sees every step on the ground. But it doesn’t really matter.

HB_Norica

Of course the US is the all seeing eye of Sauron … I’ve seen the ads and heard the pitches just like you. In the real world however airborne radars don’t see over the horizon and satellites can be jammed and blinded.

Justin Bronk, an aviation analyst at RUSI military thinktank in the UK, said they are blind to the air war in Ukraine because they can’t get aircraft close enough to view the battlefield with sensors. They are guessing and going on what the Ukrainians tell them.

As far as blinding satellites goes Iran blinded a US satellite using a battery powered laser in 2011 … Russia has WAY better toys than Iran does.

Vanya

Russia has never had a great military, they have always struggled in this department. Most of their “victories” are thanks to weather and attrition.

HB_Norica

Russia produces great soldiers and some great military minds but their political leadership has a spotty record over the centuries. When the Russian politicians stay out of it and allow Russian generals to fight as they see fit the Russians rarely lost a fight but when the politicians meddle in the military things go badly.

As far as “weather and attrition” both side in a battle always fight in the same weather conditions. If one side is better at fighting in adverse conditions do you really consider that a flaw?

Attrition is a military strategy available to both sides. If you look at the history of Russian warfare you’d find they fought mostly manuever battles on the open steppe using cavalry … When you think of a Russian soldier a Cossack on horseback wielding a sabre is most often what springs to mind for fuck sake.

Of course cavalry charges against prepared defences is suicide even if they are charging with tanks so whether the Russians are fighting the Germans in WW2 or fighting the Ukrainians today if the conditions call for attrition then attrition is the best strategy to use. The Russians also fought some nifty manuever battles in WW2 and Ukraine is far from being over.

Military schools will look back on the special military operation in Ukraine in great detail. Russia pulled off an incredible military feat, using far less troops than their opposing force.

What a joke. The Ukras know much more about the Russians then the other way around.

By Youtube we can see detailed warmaps day pr day. They tell where most units are or was a few days ago. They dont say if a unit is downseized.

It also has maps from the same source for where artillery and most missiles hit. It also registrate ongoing fires.

By that it has been very visible Russia has moved troops from the Kherson front to Luhansk making the advance.

So now You see those troops are reduced very much(Ukras has lost many too). Those are not back.

Your version for bet it a total looser up in the air or deep.

The Ukras at the same time only has a little more troops at Kherson. But they do have HImars.

Its also well known the Russians there are digged deep after the rivercrossing. Thats a very good idea and might be needed.

jens holm

The main change as try by Ukras are to let the Russians have less and less supply and real reinforcments. By that they can force the Russians to retreat. I say CAN.

Zelinsky very much is morale speach giving hope. Thats what Presidents do.

opet ja

Probably they’ll let UAF advance, then surround the troops and kill them all. If not, any attempt of UAF to go out of cities, where they are for more than 5 months, will be finished by Russian MLRSs, arties and aviation before they even reach Russian infantry or armor.

The US UK Poland may come over, are we still in the Black sea?
The routes could be directly from the Black sea to Odessa and Kherson, from Romania to Southern Ukraine and also to Ukraine through Poland. It will be best to keep Ukraine everso busy and plaster it from now until then.
Put more targets in Western Ukraine onto the strike list. The railways and roads should be on the target list too.

Not only does Putin refuse to commit enough troops he constantly interferes with military decisions and restricts his militaries use of weapons and common tactics. He is on some high tech crazy.

It is imperative that the RF holds the ground they have taken. If they don’t defend those areas their supporters in those areas will pay the price in blood. We already know what happens to civilians if the RF forces withdraw, the Ukro-Nazis will murder anyone deemed to have ‘collaborated’ with the RF.

Russia BETTER HAVE enough personnel on hand in the south to defend Kherson towns and villages! It would not be fair to the people there to allow Ukes to overrun the area and exact revenge on all suspected supporters, many of whom have taken steps for Russian citizenship already. Remember Bucha?!

Disinfo

Since Russia knows for sure that they are attacking there, they have plenty of time to prepare for it. Much like the Kharkiv trap, I think Russia is devising a counterattack strategy that will hopefully encompass the attacking army.

HB_Norica

From what I’ve heard the land around Kherson is steppe. The Ukrainian forces have to cross miles of open fields to attack the Russians … it’s basically suicide without air superiority. The Russians have been attacking the Ukrainians brigade by brigade with artillery, taking out their command posts first then concentrating on assembly areas. Every day they pick a different couple of Brigades then when those brigades get reconstituted they attack them again.

Disinfo

I doubt the attack will ever happen, no one in their right mind would broadcast where they are attacking for this long and still do it. I suspect it’s a feint to either draw attention away from the real target or saber rattling, knowing full well you don’t have the strength to attack anywhere.

Vanya

Russians had eight years to prepare for the special operation and it is quite clear they didn’t do too much preparing at all. They aren’t too quick to respond to anything.

Michel LeBlanc

Idiot, you dont understand a damn thing, you vanya or vern?

The more you talk the more you sound like a vern. Just sayin.

Donald Moore

I’ve been hearing about Zelensky’s big attack every month after Russia stared their special operation. Each went by and on a couple occasions they did attack but the Russians wiped the floor with them. When a nation drafts old men and women to fight on the front lines it means their army is kaput. Zelenskys army does not have the train men necessary for a grans attack and Britain training 10,000 every three months won’t help because all they will get is basic training which won’t prepare them for major combat!

Ukraine cannot carry out any large scale offensive because if they gather in any large numbers they will get blown up by many different kinds of Russian missiles. No need to be a military analyst to figure out that Ukraine is bluffing to keep the money laundering and weapons siphoning operation going. Good job Russia keep targeting west Ukraine

Endless Ukro counteroffensive attempts ordered by Zelensky and his commissars remind me of inept and desperate Soviet counteroffensives in 1941…. but eventually Soviets learned to fight.
If you allow your enemy time and space to seize the initiative eventually they will find weakness in your line and they will exploit it.

Give it up boys. You are putting your trust in regimes thousands of miles away. These regimes have sat on their smug arses getting rich for decades. Now they want your help to catch up on Russian military tech.

Russia hasn’t made that mistake because it has fought most of the western armies before and knew what to expect. European armies have been using rockets during battles since Napoleon, maybe before that.
All western military gave up on the tech as useless because they still believed in outdated military tactics. A reason why Napoleon wiped the floor with most european armies to begin with. The Russians did not abandon the tech and are now unrivaled because of it.

Ukrainian soldiers, think about it. Is your life worth a few US/nato data sets? Where were the US and its nato poodles when you were holed up in Mariupol?

Look it up. The British were using them also on occasions. They were very unpredictable which is probably why they were dropped. The Chinese have been using them in their local wars centuries past.

Russia is working to repair the bridges that have been damaged in the Kherson region. They will need further commit extensive anti-air defense troops to the region, to intercept AFU rocket and artillery attacks on the vital bridges that cross over to Kherson proper. I’m wondering where Ukraine thinks they will come up with the manpower and resources to launch a magical counter offensive. If the AFU had the ability, they would have already. They can’t get people to sign on to the AFU, so they hand out draft notices, and arrest people in Kiev and elsewhere who don’t produce military papers. Ukraine is a failed state, with Zelensky really not in charge of anything at this point. Kherson will hold a referendum on independence, and join the Russian Federation. That is my humble opinion, anyway.
