One hundred forty six multirole Ka-52 Alligator helicopters will be handed over to the Russian military before the 2020 deadline. Work on equipping helicopters with airborne weapons with increased range is currently in progress, Russian Deputy Minister of Defence Yuri Borisov told journalists after his visit to the factory producing the helicopters.
‘The Arsenyevsky helicopter plant is a producer of Ka-52 helicopters gunships. According to the contract, the plant must deliver 146 helicopters,’ the TASS news agency quoted the words of Borisov.
The Deputy Minister of Defence noted that Ka-52 Alligator helicopters demonstrated its relevance and high quality in the Syrian Campaign.
‘The helicopter has a serious modernization potential,’ Borisov added.
He added that the plant also develops the civil version – Ka-62 helicopter, and expressed confidence that this model ‘will also be in demand.’
Borisov also said that the ship variant of Ka-52K Katran helicopter will go on the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov already in this year.
‘We are completing the development works on the ship’s helicopters, which will go on the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov in this year,’ he said.
