Reconnaissance has recorded that fighters are leaving the regions controlled by them, reports the chief of the Main Operational Management of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Andrey Kartapolov, to journalists on Saturday.

According to him, “Reconnaissance has recorded that fighters are leaving regions controlled by them”.

“Panic and desertion have begun in their ranks. About 600 mercenaries have left their positions and are trying to get out to Europe”, said the general.

Since Wednesday, Russia has begun to pinpoint airstrikes on objects of the “Islamic State” in Syria. The targets were selected based on reconnaissance information of Russia and Syria, including aerial reconnaissance. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation declared earlier that armaments of the Russian aircraft were not applied to objects of civil infrastructure in Syria and near them, and that all attacks on the IS positions in Syria were made after conducting aerial reconnaissance and refinement of data gained from the staff of the Syrian army.
