The US in every way shields terrorists of the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (previously known as the Al-Nusra Front or the Jabhat al-Nusra) group, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said at a briefing on Thursday.

“Imagine that two or three members of the al-Nusra group, which the US government protects in every way, would walk through the streets of Washington. Can you imagine what they will do with them? And nobody will have doubts that these people are a threat. So, why will these people be wiped out instantly in the one geographic location, but elsewhere they are positioned as fighters for justice?” Zakharova told journalists.

According to the spokeswoman, West’s actions show that it does not care about the humanitarian situation in Syria, but seeks to withdraw terrorists from striking. Zakharova also added that Moscow sees a connection between the shooting attack on the Russian embassy in Damascus and Washington’s threats to the Russian Federation.

The representative of the Foreign Ministry also noted that generally the situation in Syria remains tense, especially in Aleppo and its surrounding districts.
