As of September 29, the Russian military continues to advance in the Dobropillya salient, near Pokrovsk to the south of it, as well as in Dnepropetrovsk to the west.
In the Dobropillya salient, the Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces has reported imposed control of Nikanorovka. Kiev forces fought fiercely in the settlement and launched several counterattacks around it, but ultimately failed to hold onto its positions there.
From Nykanorivka, Russian troops will likely work to clear the pocket stretching to Boikivka in the southeast and Zatyshok to the south.
Once this pocket is cleared from Kiev forces, Russian supply lines in the salient would be completely secured, thus a large offensive to the north, towards Zolotyi Kolodyaz, or to the west, towards Dobropillya, would be possible again.
Moving south to Pokrovsk, the Tsentr Group of Forces is reportedly engaged in a fierce battle with Kiev forces as it attempts to expand their control within Novoekonomichne, which is located to the east of the city. The group also advanced in recent days deeper into the eastern outskirts of Myrnohrad, right next to Novoekonomichne.
A breakthrough into Myrnohrad is highly-likely. Kiev forces are already under much pressure there, and their supply lines are constantly under fire. Such a breakthrough would be catastrophic for Pokrovsk, which is already facing increasing Russian pressure from the western direction.
Recently, Russian troops expanded their control in Kotlyne and are now reported to be making gains westwards, in the direction of Udachne. Both settlements are of course located to the west of Pokrovsk.
Kiev forces are not doing any better in Dnepropetrovsk. The Vostok [East] Group of Forces has already entered Verbove, and most of the settlement is reported to be already under control. It is very likely that the offensive will be developed towards Vyshneve, further to the west, as Ukrainian defenses there appear to be collapsing.
To the south in Zaporozhye, intense Russian strikes were reported on Poltavka. This may be a sign of a near offensive to capture the key town.
Kiev forces appear to be incapable of launching any serious counterattack in the Dobropillya salient, Pokrovsk or in Dnepropetrovsk. The Russian military maintains the upper hand in these directions. The situation there will not likely get any better for Ukraine, as the country is already giving these directions priority when it comes to reinforcements and supplies.
