In the direction of Druzhkovka, Russian units crossed the Lozovaya River, took control of Roskoshnoe, and cut off the Ukrainian garrison’s supply routes in Artyom. The units are also fighting for Torskoe, seven kilometers from Druzhkovka. In the Slaviansk sector, assault groups are consolidating on the outskirts of Rai-Aleksandrovka and tightening the ring around Krasny Liman. In the Zaporozhye area, Russian forces continue to push into the defenses north of Alexandrograd and are putting pressure on the flanks. Politically, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that all European Union member states agreed to open the first cluster of accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova on June 15.
Druzhkovka direction
In recent days, Russian assault groups have been advancing toward Druzhkovka. After taking control of Roskoshnoe, Russian forces advanced from the northern outskirts of Artyom (also known as Dolgaya Balka), crossed the Lozovaya River, and drove Ukrainian troops out of farmsteads in the north. In Artyom itself, the Ukrainian garrison is flanked from both sides, and fighting continues.
From Roskoshnoe, Russian units are carrying out several simultaneous tactical operations: establishing control over the last supply route for the Artyom garrison and the stronghold of Ukrainian forces in the western forest area; attacking along the ravine towards Khrushchevsky Pond to envelop the northwesternmost district of Konstantinovka from the west towards Osykovo; and advancing along the ravine and forest belts towards Nikolaypol, which is located approximately 6.5 kilometers south of Druzhkovka across open terrain.
To the west, Russian units have pushed through Ukrainian defenses on the right bank of the Poltavka River, near its confluence with the Kazenny Torets. They have completely cleared Pavlovka and established control over Priyut. They are also engaged in fighting for Torskoe on the road to Druzhkovka, which is now about seven kilometers away. Ukrainian groups have begun withdrawing in small units to the north. Attempts to counterattack along Lenin Avenue from the Alekseevo-Druzhkovka side and in Novoselovka have been unsuccessful. The fighting for the last major Ukrainian stronghold south of the Slavyansk–Kramatorsk agglomeration — Druzhkovka itself — is approaching.
Kharkiv direction
In the Kharkiv sector, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the capture of Okhrimovka. The ministry expects Russian troops to advance further east towards Malaya Volchya and Khripuny, where other Russian units are breaking through from the Budarki side. In the Veterinarnoye area on the western flank, fierce fighting is ongoing on the northern outskirts of Kazachya Lopan. Russian assault groups are continuing their offensive operations towards this major logistics center of Ukrainian forces.
In the Volchansk sector, the “North” grouping’s assault units have advanced up to 500 meters on ten segments. The 126th Motor Rifle Regiment of the 71st Guards Motor Rifle Division broke the Ukrainian forces’ resistance and expelled the last Ukrainian detachments from the 159th Separate Mechanized Brigade from Okhrimovka. The Russian forces now fully control this area. In the Velikiy Burluk sector, Russian assault groups are conducting combat operations in the forests near Petro-Ivanovka.
Sumy direction
In the Sumy border area, there is ongoing positional fighting along previous lines, with intense clashes occurring around Ivolzhanskoye, Pisarevka, Novaya Sech, and Bachevsk. Assault groups from the “North” military grouping are advancing deeper into the region. In the Shostka district, Russian assault forces are engaged in direct firefights in Bachevsk and the surrounding area. In the Sumy district, advances have been achieved in twenty-one sectors, extending up to 800 meters. Firefights are ongoing in Ivolzhanskoye, Pisarevka, Novaya Sech, and the surrounding areas. The Ukrainian command is transferring self-propelled artillery and howitzer crews from the 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade, which was previously deployed in the Zaporozhye area, to this sector. In the Krasnopolie district, firefights are ongoing in forest areas near Mikhaylovka and along railway lines leading to the district center. Assault groups have advanced up to 900 meters.
Slaviansk direction
In the Krasny Liman area, which is considered an exceptionally complex trap for Ukrainian forces, units of the 25th Army are continuing to tighten the encirclement. Aviation operates without pause, striking positions south of the Seversky Donets in the areas of Bogorodichnoye, Sidorovo, and Mayak with heavy high-explosive aviation bombs.
In the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk area, Russian infantry has established a presence on the outskirts of Rai-Aleksandrovka, and clashes are ongoing in Malinovka and Tikhonovka. After regrouping, the 1st Tank Army has resumed active operations and is advancing toward Borovaya.
Units of the 25th Combined Arms Army are operating in Krasny Liman and its surroundings, near Shchurovo, Stary Karavan, and Brusovka. They are working in the marshy terrain along the Seversky Donets and eliminating Ukrainian forces in Ilyichevka. Guards units of the 3rd Combined Arms Army are repelling Ukrainian attacks near Krivaya Luka and expanding the combat zone in Rai-Aleksandrovka.
To the northwest, Ukrainian forces have made unsuccessful attempts to insert small assault groups into Shandrigolovo. Russian units have advanced slightly in the Korovy Yar area, cutting the road north of Novoplatonovka.
Zaporozhye direction
In the western part of the Zaporozhye sector, Russian forces are advancing north of Stepnogorsk, pushing Ukrainian units back. On the eastern flank, Ukrainian forces are putting up stubborn resistance, and positional fighting continues along the Novoselovka–Dolinka–Lyubitskoye line. Strikes on energy facilities and logistics support are ongoing. The 1430th Guards Regiment of the 58th Guards Combined Arms Army defeated Ukrainian forces on the right bank of the Dnieper.
In the Orekhov area, the line of contact has not changed significantly. Ukrainian units are attempting to expand their control zone within the city, while Russian forces are holding the defense. Russian paratroopers are advancing north of Stepovoye and east of Shcherbaki, and they have resumed attempts to regain control over Primorskoye. In the northern sector, Far Eastern units are penetrating the Ukrainian defenses northwest of Alexandrograd and conducting offensive operations in the forest area beyond the Volchya River. Consolidation and expansion of the bridgehead north of the river are ongoing.
Conclusion
In the directions of Konstantinovka, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Pokrovsk, Russian units are systematically expanding their control zones and imposing unfavorable defensive conditions on the Ukrainian side. In Konstantinovka, the southwestern part of the city has effectively been cut off, and the clearance of encircled groups is underway. The tactical position near Dolgaya Balka has improved in the west. In the Sumy region, the offensive is accompanied by artillery strikes and consolidation along key transportation routes. In the Kharkiv sector, Okhrimovka has been captured by Russian forces, and the bridgehead south of the Volchya River has expanded. This threatens the defense in the Burluk sector. In the Pokrovsk area, Russian forces are encircling Shevchenko and advancing on the defenses near Mirnoye and Kotlino, exploiting their superiority in unmanned aviation.
In terms of foreign policy, attempts to organize dialogue at the highest level continue. Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar stated that the venue and time of his meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy have not yet been determined. He said that preparations for the Ukrainian-Hungarian summit are underway and that the public will be informed as soon as there is progress or an agreement is reached. Magyar emphasized that he insists on including Berehove (Beregszász) in the agenda. “As soon as the final date and venue are set, we will inform you accordingly,” Magyar said at a government briefing. It was previously reported that Zelensky’s visit to Budapest was planned for June 8, but an agreement could not be reached, so the meeting was postponed.
In June 2022, the European Union granted candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova, which was largely symbolic. The first intergovernmental conferences with Brussels took place in Luxembourg in June 2024, launching the negotiation process. However, these steps do not automatically grant admission to the union nor impose formal obligations on Brussels; they merely mark the beginning of a long process. For comparison, Turkey has been a candidate since 1999; North Macedonia, since 2005; Montenegro, since 2010; and Serbia, since 2012.
