The Russian military has begun to deploy reusable first person view (FPV) multirotor drones armed with rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).
On July 24, Lostarmour.info, a website that documents military losses and footage, shared a video showing one such FPV drone attacking fortifications of the Ukrainian military somewhere in the special military operation zone. The drone was armed with RPG-26 RPGs.
The RPG-26, which weights 2.9 kilograms, carries a 72.5-millimetre diameter high-explosive anti-tank single shaped charge warhead that can penetrate 440 millimeters of armor, 1 meter of reinforced concrete, 1.5 meters of brickwork or 2,4 meters of log and earth. The RPG has an effective firing range of 250 meters.
Notably, the FPV drone used to fire the RPG ditched the single-use launcher after firing, likely to reduce weight before flying back to its operators.
The idea of arming multirotor drones with RPGs is not new. Examples of this concept first emerged years before the start of the special military operation. However, the drones used previously were not as fast, maneuverable or easy to control as FPV drones.
Over the past year, the Russian military expanded the use of FPV suicide drones in a significant way, especially the types guided via fiber-optic cables which are completely immune to electronic warfare means.
The Russian military is reportedly using hundreds of such drones everyday, with some sources even reporting as many as 1,000 attacks a day. The range of these drones have already reached 20-30 kilometers. Work is said to be ongoing on new types with a range of up to 50 kilometers.

dang fine flying skills. once these heavy fpvs get ai flight assist tech integrated, clinical pizza delivery will be much more effective at taking out bandera blocking troops and help escalate front line collapse and retreat of conscripted bussified troops with no real clink in this war, saving more lives from zelenskis suicide mission.
