The Russian military has made more gains in the Dobropillya salient to the north of Pokrovsk, and advanced to the west of the city.
As of September 28, it was reported that the Tsentr [Center] Group of Forces has expanded its control in Nikanorovka in the Dobropillya salient following heavy clashes with Kiev Forces. Russian troops also entered Dorozhnye, located right to the west, once again, foiling attempts to establish Ukrainian defenses there.
Russian troops were also able to completely clear Novoye Shakhovo, which lies to the north of Nikanorovka and Dorozhnye.
The latest push put immense pressure on remaining Ukrainian troops in Nykanorivka. If they fail to launch an effective counterattack in the coming days, the settlement will likely be taken over by Russian troops, along with all the territories south of it.
The situation of Kiev forces in Ivanivka, located between Novoye Shakhovo and Dorozhnye does not seem to be any better. Once Dorozhnye is cleared by Russian troops, the settlement will likely come under attack from north and south. The chances of Ukrainian defenses there holding up are slim.
Moving away from the Dobropillya salient, towards the west of Pokrovsk, more Russian gains were reported in the last 24 hours.
The Tsentr Group of Forces reportedly advanced to the west of Kotlyne narrowing the gap with Udachne, which is also already under Russian control. Another push was reported from Udachne itself towards a large industrial facility located right to the north of it.
Leveling the front in this area will help secure the front to the west of Pokrovsk from any Ukrainian large-scale counterattack.
The drone units working with the Tsentr Group of Forces played a key role in facilitating recent advance around Pokrovsk and in the Dobropillya salient, according to videos released recently.
In addition to recent gains, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Tsentr Group of Forces inflicted heavy losses on Kiev Forces near Krasnoarmeysk, Dimitrov, Torskoye, Priyut, Grishino, Belitskoye, Rodinskoye, and Zolotoy Kolodez in Donetsk, as well as close to Filiya and Novopavlovka in Dnepropetrovsk.
“The enemy losses were more than 505 troops, one tank, three pickup trucks, and one 122-mm D-30 howitzer,” the ministry added.
While Kiev forces are putting one some fighting in the Dobropillya salient, their situation in Pokrovsk and its surroundings seems very much desperate. Ukraine continues to pour reinforcements into the city without any real plan in the hope of preventing a catastrophic collapse.
